Hi Has any one had any success, from challenging Very and littlewoods.
I am looking to go for account fees and removal of credit reports.
So my story is had multiple pdl's lots of toxic debt and bills. defaults also during my account
I Had debt with very and little woods with arrangements to pay because I was falling behind in repaying them. this is marked on my credit file.
However I feel that they did not review my circumstances Has anyone challenged them on fee's and getting these removed from your credit report.

Your success will probably depend on the extent to which you told them you were having problems paying, and by that I mean explicitly told them, rather than simply made late payments or no payments at all.
They won't know about your other debts, bills, PDLs etc and unless they told them you couldn't pay, they probably just assumed you didn't fancy paying them this month, and had spend the money on something else. Essentially, they can't review your circumstances if you didn't tell them what your circumstances were.
You'll probably also have to show that as well as knowing you were in difficulties, they ignored them and continued anyway. Bear in mind though, that if every company rolled over and let people off every time someone claimed they were a bit short this month (whether it was true or not), they wouldn't be in business for very long. Furthermore, there will be some people who wouldn't hesitate to lie if they thought they could avoid paying for something.0 -

as soon as you sign up with very/little woods they gave me 700 and 150. each
I originally recall it was about 700 for little woods first of all. it awarded straight away which made me think did they asses me correctly.0 -
Hi,
I doubt you will have much luck getting negative information wiped from your credit file, as you don't dispute the circumstances, only the reasons for it, the information has to be accurate.
The charges on the other hand you can challenge, a written complaint is the way to go, and if no success, or your still not happy, after 8 weeks you can take your complaint to the financial ombudsman.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. well I do dispute the circumstances at which the credit was given to me. I'll try and see but as such if they had reviewed me adequately. the way I see it when credit is supplied then they should of reviewed the applicant fully. they had access to all my credit reports so it would of been obvious at the point of me applying that i could not afford it.
I know it's a moral thing don't take credit if you can't afford it.
some people need protecting from them selves.
when people dangle the carrot in front of you & having kids to clothe etc it was always an easier choice to make.
I'm sure some on here will think it's all a money grab ploy but it's not. it takes a lot for someone to say hey I have money issues to the world.
I have massive damage that has been done by me and aided by the lending also.
lending to someone you can obviously see has money issues. and using the same system these company are supposed to be using but are but still punish people with is not acceptable in my book.
I'll send my sar and will challenge them see what happens even if I get my report corrected that will be a victory.0 -

I take it you will never have credit ever again and have written to all the major credit companies asking them to not give you credit even if you ask?
After all, as you said, some people need protecting from themselves and should have a responsible adult managing their finances for them....0 -
I've complained to them regarding there behavior... got the usual 8 weeks response whilst we look into your account.
Very were constantly upping my credit limit and sending me offers, buy now pay in 6 months, i was young and stupid, i know that, but that is no excuse for there irresponsible behavior. Even when i admitted to them that i was in trouble and offer £100 a month they were pressuring me into pay more, i'm sure there duty at that point is to refer me for debt advise.camelot1971 wrote: »I take it you will never have credit ever again and have written to all the major credit companies asking them to not give you credit even if you ask?

Camelot1971, there is NO NEED to take that stance of this board. Debt free wannabee is all about supporting each other, regardless of what financial state we are in. so please get off your high horse and jog along.0 -

Sorry, but I'm with Camelot on this. It's all well and good saying "they shouldn't have given me credit" (after it's been spent), but why shouldn't people take responsibility for their own behaviour?
Gamblers can self-ban from sites if they are committed. Camelot is simply advocating the OP does the same. Time people took some personal responsibility for their actions.
And before you go there, this isn't a high horse I'm sitting on. It's a hill I had to crawl up once I took responsibility for MY financial misjudgements and sorted myself out.LBM July 2006. Debt free 01 Sept 12 .. :T

I agree that the board is about supporting people to sort out their debts, and advise how to pay them back. There are many ways to repay or in some cases have the debts removed or cancelled - DMP, IVA, bankruptcy, payment breaks.
But - how do you think people who are paying back their debts feel when they see others just wanting to walk away from the debts they have built up?
And like Vikipollard it's not a high horse it's the plain having paid off the debts I had.
As for the point made about writing to the credit companies that genuinely may be a good idea as the OP wants their credit report cleared. If they had it done this time I am not sure they would have it done a second time if they ran up debt.Aiming to make £7,500 online in 20220 -

why am i not allowed a second chance at changing my management of money.. and for your information I have very nearly cleared off all of my credit.. and closed my accounts.
you know and i know it's not black and white. the system of credit checking is pretty simple a company like shop direct says hey you i can help you get a good deal i'll give you £900 credit without you filling out any form of credit check or expenses.
they then do this thing where you think you're paying off the minimum but they then move the payment dates on you, you then get a late payment fee and a marker on your score.. phone them up and say I get paid on x day of the month i have always paid on this date before. why is it now not OK to pay on that date.. they then have you paying late fees on £900
Like i said I have kids who want clothes etc when I was younger this was always an easier option i never said once I was exempt from paying.
very\littlewoods got their money from me and then some .
no one can say i didn't pay for what I got but i recall i got a late fee on the arrangement to pay for each month it ran for a year.
so the steps i am taking due to them not performing the checks correctly. again I had 2 defaults and over 30 pdl loans during the years I was given my accounts.( if you was a lender would you consider me) which it states a company should do when offering any form of credit.
I will then ask for all of my charges back and for them to remove the AP' markers as if they never existed.
I have learnt my lesson and paid all my debts but I am entitled to do some repairing on my credit file.0 -

sorry the above sounded a bit hostile. wasn't meant to be toned that way at all. people have genuinely expressed an interest in tackling shop direct and catalogue companies. they heavily use strong debt collection techniques.0
