Octavia 1.9 TDi PD model - can't go wrong IMO.

I think the later 1.9 Tdi PD engines had the dreaded DPF filter .Once the new rules were in place even the PD engine had them fitted.I could be wrong tho.
I m on the hunt for a very low mileage PD engine but they are getting rare.Maybe I`l do what many seem to be doing and get someone to take the DPF filter off on a 1.6 turbo Octavia.Has anyone had it done and does it go through the MOTs ok ?

    40 octavia under 60k 10 under 40k on autotrader.

Would have to check the later models for DPF. I though the octavia 1.9 never got DPF.

    the briskoda guys should know.

Even if you are able to get an MOT that doesn't change the fact that your vehicle is no longer compliant with Construction & Use Regulations.

That is an awful lot more important than an MOT.

I was searching for a proper low mileage of under 15k. I don`t consider 40k to 60k low mileage. There will be a few out there I m sure.
I remember checking a new 1.9 Octavia at our local VAG dealer Hazledenes in Doncaster and I think the 1.9 s PDs were still in production when the new regulations about DPFs came in. It would be a disaster to go and buy one finding out its got all that DPF rubbish on it.

Why ? I m not concerned in the slightest about the Construction and Use regs, whatever that is, I just want the MOT to go through ok. Could there be an insurance get out if the DPF was nt in place and the car was in an accident ? Many people are ripping out the DPF with no probs..so far. My mates big diesel Beemer just went through the test without the DPF in place. He says it costs £350 to rid himself of it .

You think wrong. The 130PD engine mentioned has never had a DPF. Some variants like the 105PD may have done but that's not one being recommended here.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

I think you should really look into what the Construction & Use Regulations are.

Think along the lines of a large fine and a potential get out of jail free card for your Insurance Company.

    Your choice

Take advice or not it makes little difference to me.

Scarely you have no idea of what they are and think an MOT is all you need to drive legally.

You don't think 40k or 60k is low mileage for a PD engined Skoda?

I drove an 07 plate Passat for a few months in 08. It was a 2.0tdi with a DSG box (140bhp) and it has a DPF apparently, it was certainly not very good on fuel and returned 40mpg at best and 35mpg if you were driving it in heavy traffic.

Probably the only VAG engine I would trust would be the old 90 and 110 TDi engines.

On a used car how do you know the correct oil for the PD engine has been used for its entire life?

What about the pollution? Don't go buying a diesel planning to take the DPF off. Either your driving is suitable for a diesel, and there'll be no problem, or it's not, and you'll be better off with a petrol.

Well I wouldn't buy a PD engine VAG that is for sure. Turbo, DMF/clutch/chocolate cams/DPF.......
