I will take a stab at it being the 2.2 CDi engine. The version of Vito that is basically a van with seats. The Viano being a bit more high end with a nicer ride.

Yes, it is the 2.2 diesel engine. Budget doesn't stretch to a posh interior - sufficient seats for three car seats was priority.

I would also take a stab at the previous owner perhaps using it for business purposes perhaps?

The Vito and indeed similar Viano can be unreliable when they get a bit old, and I would not be surprised if the vehicle was sold due to the expectation of more problems to come.

Is the previous owner a Chauffeur? Or perhaps a Private Hire driver specialising in Airport runs?

It was registered to the person's business (restaurant) but only used as a family car. They had another van for the business. it has done 98k miles. Many seem to do 200k+ miles. MOT history shows nothing unusual.

The relays click when ignition turned, then the starter motor solenoid clicks, so I will take a guess at starter motor receiving insufficient voltage to turn, which points at an issue with the contacts. Will get the multimeter out when it is light outside and not snowing!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Had the same issue with a C220CDI,failed to start / then would on numerous occasions.
Had the keys, ignition switch, checked, even put a new starter / solenoid on, still the issue persisted......
