You are cordially invited to the nuptials between X and Z

The above is the beginning of our Save the Date invitations. Is it grammatically correct?

Looks OK but I'd be worried about Y not getting mentioned. Is this a threesome gone bad? :)

Personally I think it's a little overkill for a Save the Date. A Save the Date card is just that, it's not an invitation, just a heads up to keep it free. It should be enough to say Save the date, X and Z are getting married on [Y].

Also, I hate the use of extraneous words, I wouldn't be inviting someone to my wedding if I wasn't doing it cordially, so I'd drop that. I'm not a big fan of nuptial either, but horses for courses.

Save the postage ..... just send an invitation. If you're asking them to "save the date" then you know you're inviting them to the day.

I'm not really a fan of OTT 'fancy' wording that you'd never use in real life.

Is it a save the date or the actual invitation, it s not clear from your post.

Save the date - X & Y are planning their wedding which will take place on 31st April 2017 - we know it's early but we are hoping that you might be able to attend. We shall let you know the where and what time nearer the time.

Save your money (not only for the save the dates but the postage too) and ditch the save the dates and send your invites early.
Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time

While this makes sense I can understand that it is not always possible. Invitations are usually co-ordinated with the colour scheme of the wedding so they may not have been decided upon.
I don't believe it is the 'done' thing to send an invitation a year in advance. A save the date notice can make people aware there is an important date when they plan and book holiday time off from work.

Invitations colour coordinated is a new one on me and as you don't take the invite with you would you really notice.

Personally I think save the date cards are an added expense that isn't needed. Anyone that important will be in contact and the date discussed
Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

It does sound quite formal and I would avoid anything along the lines of 'you're invited' to avoid confusion with the invites... How about -

Save the date (large point size, fill about half the card)

X and Z are tying the knot (or x and z are getting hitched)

    1st August 2017

Please save the date - invitation to follow

(How scary - I've never come close to getting married and it seems I've got really fixed ideas about how to lay out a saved the date )
