You could use some of those eggs your friend gave you for breakfasts and/or lunches - boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, fried egg on toast, eggy bread, omelettes. And maybe you could convince her to pass more your way ;)

    Morning everyone.

I should be clear that I dont have fifty pounds this week.

The direct debits are Mainly due at some point over the next few days, and with my sons birthday looming the cheaper I can do it the better!

So I've written my shopping list, used my supermarket to price it up at aldi. And will check out wilkinsons and lidil with my priced up list in hand to see if I can make it even cheaper! :D im almost sure I can especially on the toilet paper!

Thanks springdreams, she's being very generous and yes I'm looking forward to a lovely omelette , her eggs are just so golden looking!

I'm hoping to save a fiver so I can go to the lovely butcher and get a small lump of Cornish cheddar (mine all mine!!) and a pot of their amazing passionfruit curd. Turns a normal sponge ito the most amazing passion cake ;) its three fifty a jar so not cheap, but ill get several cakes out of it. You really dont need much, that I if I don't eat it all with a spoon from the jar. Lol!

Cheel I second using the eggs for meals too and the days you use them that's another days food still in the freezer to use later on. Egg and chips is still a family favourite, Omlette with any precooked veg in or cheese, poached eggs on toast, egg and soldiers, fried egg sarnies, boiled egg sarnies, quiche make to most of the free food to feed you and your son. x
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)

    Hi how much!
I saw my lovely friend at sons swimming lesson today. She gave me another Ten eggs all laid yesterday one has a bluish looking shell. I've so many now I can bake and eat omelette till I pop!! I may experiment with freezing a little one egg omelette for fake McDonalds breakfast!!

She said there's more whenever I want them. They are laying 7 to 10 a day!!!

I wonder if she knows how much she is helping me? I think ill make her a chicken cushion from my scraps to thank her .

    Hello again everyone!

So I did my shop yesterday. With my plan, and 'stocktake' I spent £18. This should last slightly over the week I think. And we will be eating well!

I dont rule out that I've probably forgotten something. But I will just pop for that (and only that) when I am too and fro school.

    I can do this!!

Thanks spring dreams. That's what I got but the four roll pack. I dont drive and town is just over a mile away so a bigger pack was not an option this time. I get a taxi when my son stays with my mum to bring him home, and I will get the bulkier things then. If I am having to have one anyway I might as well fill it up :D

I also must be making sons birthday cake. My friend keeps chicken and she's just given me 18 eggs. Loads for cake and buns for his whole class and probably a quiche or something too! :D

I've posted this on other threads but it may help you. It's often easier to make a quiche with a mashed potato base instead of pastry or a frittata or Spanish omelette on the hob. The potatoes make it more substantial.
