Wouldnt it be cheaper to make your own curry sauce rather than buy them? There was a thread on here a while back showing how to make a base from scratch.0

Morning everyone!
Looks like a 'washing out' kind of day!!
Son is back to school, lovely having an extra day with him though. Here's hoping he isn't too moody about it when I wake him in a bit.
I've a busy day today, but hopefully I will manage to be productive.
Just going to check the bank account, then get up and on for the day.
Yesterday was a no spend day and today should be also.
Birds are singing! Always good!
Have lovely days everyone!

Thanks pollycat. I've never made goulash, will look it up. Do you freeze fresh mushrooms? I didn't kbow you could but its a very good idea if you can. Will look that up too!
Cheel xx
Fry mushrooms in butter(!),cool, pack in portions, freeze.
Used some last night in a risotto, tasted and looked like fresh mushrooms. Also put in a limp leek, wonky onion, garlic, stock and chicken bits and stock from Sundays roast and handful of peas. All tastes better,IMHO,made with butter olive oil and Parmesan, really lifts cheapie bits. And of course arborio rice,in all a cheap tea.
Yummy.

For inspiration on menus, I suggest this thread:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3705165
Basically, people just post what they're cooking for dinner but sometimes it just gives you an idea for a change.
People are always wlling to post a menu if something takes your fancy.
I've collected recipes for Homity Pie, Scottish Steak Pie & slow cooker red beans and rice from there.0 -
Thanks pollycat, will have a browse later on!
At the moment I'm going from the freezer list I made and crossing off the meals as we eat them. Tonight's its barbecue chicken and roast potatoes green beans and carrots. Its cooking its self, so easy so I've been mowing the lawn, just having a drink and I'm off into the back garden to get it tidied up ready for my veg plot!!
I'm planting runner beans, we love them, going to try potatoes never done them before, tomatoes tumbling tom, strawberries and I've room for two more very small plots or one medium. No idea what to put in it, will have a google later !!
I'm starting to feel really quite content
The feeling of impending doom seems to be drifting away (I'm sure the sunshine helps!)

Sorry, not ignoring your post. Yes, it probably would be cheaper to make my own sauces but I was just posting a reply as to how I keep to around £50 a week.
Quite simply I dont always have the time as I work full time, generally leaving the house at 7.00 am and not getting back much before 6 pm. Thats why I buy ready made sauces as it is still cheaper than buying ready meals as such or takeout.Never, ever give up........0 -
Hello everyone,
I'm still here! Very busy at the moment, a bit overwhelmed actually!
I've a lot of walking to do today, and my foot is playing up, typical!! (I have RA, but not badly)
Its so s birthday on Monday so today is my last chance to get anything and hide it!!
Hes very creative and practical and bright as a button, so I've got him a work bench, and am off to jewsons this morning to get him some wood! No idea how I'm going to wrap a load of wood.
I've got a bit behind with my work load so I'm hoping I can catch up a bit today.
I've also got a funeral to go to, I usually do all i can to avoid them, due to my anxiety problems, a panic attack at a funeral would be so disrespectful, and people should be focusing on their memories,,not the nutter in the corner!!!! Lol!!! However there are times when you just need to show your respects, so will go, and do just that.
So best get up and get started, Early to bed early to rise, makes cheel healthy wealthy and wise!!
Lol!
Hope everyone is ok and have a good day all.
