Talk Talk charging me for non restitution of Freeview Box after contract expired.

I had a contract with TalkTalk which expired in January 2015. After that I was on a 'rolling contract' (from month to month). In February 2016 I left TalkTalk for Virgin Media (long overdue) and they now charged me for not returning the Freeview Box which came with the original (and terminated) contract.
The fact is that the box was mine as I terminated the contract with them, but before disposing of the box I called and chatted with their advisors 3 times to make sure that my contract was expired and I did not need to give them the box back.
I did it because I know what they are like and wanted to double check. I have 3 transcripts of their advisors telling me NOT to return the box. They have now charged me for it and refusing to return the money.
Theyin fact have charged me once and refunded me immediately, then charged me again, and after various phone called, agreed to another refund which then they changed their mind about and withdrew.
They are now refusing to give me the money back. How do I take this past their useless Customer Service Managers?

Your contract didn't expire in January 2015 (you are in contract until you give the required notice),but your minimum term did end.
Importantly, their terms & conditions say that you will be charged for the box if you leave while still in minimum term ,which you are not, so shouldn't be charged.0 -
