I was just pondering after reading some posts and there are so many feelings that being in debt can bring. What are your feeling regards it? Shame? Guilt? Anger? Regret? Probably all of the above. How does it impact on your life and has anything good come out of it maybe??
Would be great to share. Mine is regret that I didn't handle my money better but sort of relief that the debt I have went on the house and not rubbish.
Look forward to hearing your replies.

Valuable lessons learned. Now not needing 'stuff' an dhappy to buy secondhand most things. Not being materialistic or greedy. Making life long friends on my debt free journey - honest friendships. Finding you can have fun for free. Not wasting.Never again will the wolf get so close to my door :eek:0

It is also somewhat shame because you need to borrow money from others that you can't provide with your own. But if you try hard not to do it again and pay your debts as much as you can, just make sure it won't happen again for you not to feel bad things. Make sure you make a way to do it.0

I don't have debt anymore but when I did the main thing I felt was anxiety - what if I lose my job and I have no way to repay this money I owe??
I didn't feel annoyed with myself back then but I feel annoyed now when I think how long it took me to learn how to budget and thinking about how much I could have saved, especially since I live with my parents and have minimal outgoing! I try not to dwell on it though since unless I can invent a time machine, these feelings are uselessSaved so far - £28,890.97

My immediate feeling is puzzlement at why this isn't in the Debt, Health or Arms Boards?
Unless you are actually in debt to a relative or partner, I can see very little relevance to this board?0 -

I suppose in the same way a poster may post on the debt board about how it is affecting their relationships.
Debt is certainly linked to family - my debt was caused through divorce and then I spent the whole of my child's life paying it back.Never again will the wolf get so close to my door :eek:0 -
Hopelessness
Thats my underlying feeling.
I fel slightly better about it after talking to the bf yesterday, he's made me see it in a different way. Now its not just my debt, but our b#debt. Hes taken it on and is doing everything to help me fight it and sort it out. I'm not saying he's bailing me out, as that never helped anyone, but i know he will support me in me trying to pay it off and that he will do everything to help get me in a better situation.
But i have felt very hopeless for the past 7 years or so. Thankfully i feel a bit more optimistic now. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
