I have moved on, in fact I have my eye on another property but again at the moment no details are available though I know the property is unoccupied.
As a potential first time buyer I can see I need to get educated on the way houses come onto the market.
Getting back to my original posting my personal feeling is the playing field was perhaps not level on that that property but that's life I suppose.0 -

Pretty much. Maybe the agents pulled a fast one and got a great new office at a bargin price. Though if they violated any regulation or law the vendor would have to bring a case against them. Maybe internally the house was in a right mess and would have been tricky to sell and the vendor got a great deal from the agent because they were going to gut it anyway?
In future if you're interested in such a property you could always try and track down the owners/estate (land registry can tell you who did own it, wills are public documents so you can work it out) and send a letter offering directly. Though this is a rather agressive approach and could backfire spectacularly depending on who's selling (Maybe they'll be highly offended you sent them such a letter shortly after the death of a relative. They could be planning to put it on the market in a few months but decide whatever they do they're not going to sell to you now).0
