So didnt pass 3 mnth probation

Just got the chop yesterday and didnt pass my 3 month probation... Im discreetly heartbroken as it was a large international firm and would have loved to of progressed... but hey what can i do... :/

My question really is what would companies owe me (or people theyve just made redundant) who have worked there for around 12 weeks?

They said ill be getting:

A weeks pay
6 days holiday credited to me

And I believe thats it...

I told my friend I got made redundant and she said to not accept everything they say on face value, say you require money to find another job/travel costs etc amongst other things....

Is this correct? can this be done? Or could this only be done if someone had worked at a company for a number of years etc?

Thanks,

  • Hiya,

In my experience what they have offered you is correct. Thats a 1 week notice pay and .5 days holiday pay per week for the 12 weeks you've worked there. Due to length of service the company wouldn't need to give you anything else therefore i wouldn't ask them. Take it as a life lesson and on to the next one!

If it was me I would ask for 10 years living costs here as well just to help with the ordeal you have suffered, Seriously just take what has been offered and be grateful for it then go on and look for other employment.
  • They haven't made you redundant surely? Just terminated your contract. I'd accept what you've been offered, I doubt you're entitled to anything else.

That's what job seekers allowance is for.

Get online and claim today. You will (most probably) not be sanctioned and after a couple of waiting days the DWP will start paying you enough to find another job and enough to cover your travel costs to interviews.

Not passing your probation isn't redundancy. Redundancy would mean your job no longer exists.

ive just been paid by the company

UNIVERSAL CREDIT will see this and say 'you dont meet the threshold' so you cant claim anything... (this happened to me back in july 15... i got paid by then company and a couple days later i was expecting to receive around £300 from U/C but didnt receive anything because i had received a salary within that month)

you basically have to use ALL your own money before you can resort to UNIVERSAL CREDIT... I find that logic so stupid

You were not made redundant, you failed your probation. They have given you what they are legally obliged to do.

    Yes you can claim.

You are allowed to have up to £16,000 in capital (your last income payment does not count as capital) and still claim UC. You can have more and still claim but all you get is National Insurance credits and no cash.

You can have up to £6,000 in capital and that does not affect your UC claim in any way.

Any income you get reduces your UC/JSA payment. As you've already been paid that won't affect a claim starting today.

UC and JSA is paid in arrears. You get paid UC or JSA at the end of the period you are claiming for so you don't generally get anything for two weeks. Your final pay packet will be enough to live off for that 2 weeks. When you get a job you are entitled to one more UC or JSA payment as it's paid for the time you were not working and that last payment should last until you get your first pay packet.

    Thanks,

Why on earth should a company that has found that you are not suitable for the position they offered pay you any more than what you have accrued?

If you were of any value to them, they would have kept you on.

Just take the money, say thank you - nice knowing you - and find another job....and this time make sure that you pass the probationary period!
