Resurrecting our ISAs

Hello,
I and O/H drained our ISAs in July to get our house deposit. Mine was an A&L ISA which I transferred to Abbey this financial year, his is an A&L Direct ISA Issue 2 (I think). Neither have been paid into this year, but we are currently in a position to do so. So:
Can we close the ISAs and open 'new money' ISAs this year? Or does the fact that we each have an account with £1 in it prevent us from opening a new one this year?
Any pointers gratefully received... I'd just like to know the most efficient way of maximising our options. Obviously if the rates we can get are limited, we might as well plough it all into the mortgage instead!

As you have not paid into the ISAs this year you are quite at liberty to open a new ISA with any provider.
You don't need to close the other ISAs either although if you only have £1 in them you might want to do so.0
