upvc door,Safestyle

I had a safestyle door fitted to my house. It doesnt seal at the top and botton corner unless the 5 point locking is applied. They tell me this is normal ?? Never had this with other manufactures. You should be able to shut the door and it seals without having to apply the 5 point by lifting the handle up. Are they trying to con me ? Just appears a get out for a poor fitting door. The engineer called me and told me they all do that ?! but cant see how that is to energy rules. Anyone have any advice ? Many Thanks

    Could be this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ropHOeTaiuA

In any case Safestyle should come have a look at it, A door shouldn't need to be locked to be sealed.
  • Its just on the handle lock i want it to seal, it seals fine on the five point. When i push the door to close and latch on the handle single point the door seal doesnt seal top and bottom. Like i say they dont seem very interested in sorting it at all.

These doors are usually like this, once the handle is pulled up they seal tightly.

Both my front and back door are as you described, neither are from safe style, both from different companies. Both seal well when handle is lifted up.
  • Well they should seal without the handle being pulled up. Comes on energy saving rules. If it doesnt seal on the latch then you have a case against them

Not at all, when you pull the handle up it engages the multi point locking and brings the door tight into the seals.

If they tried to make the door seal without lifting the handle it would be too hard to close.
  • That depends on the type of locking system, they shouldnt pull the door in it should already be sealed. I have 4 rental properties and none of them have this problem or my own home, maybe because they not cheap safestyle crap. The door isnt even flat and bows slightly.Poor qualitity door. Fensa and energy regs state seal needs to be made just on the latch. If you know the regs you know thats corect. I wouldnt buy safstyle people, should be called cheapwith littlestyle. There back in th1980's " il just call my manager to get you a super discount " i thought that one went out with the bunko booth ! Talk like cowboys too, i dont want to be called mate when im doing business thank you.

Have you got a link to those regs?
  • Why did i buy it , is that a quesrion from someone who doesnt work for Safestyle ?? i ask myself ??

I bought it because i was told from the rep that it was a quality product, to this and that energy saving spec, 10 yr guarantee, best etc etc etc. The truth is its and inferior cheap nasty product.I have never had a door that doesnt seal on the latch and never will again as long as i dont buy from Safestyle.
My house doors all seal on the latch because there a quality product end of.

DONT BY SAFESTYLE, ITS CHEAP BUT NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE BECAUSE IT DOESNT KEEP THE COLD OUT BECAUSE IT DOESNT SEAL PROPERLY. NEVER AGAIN
