Tenant referencing with defaults

I'm just after a bit of advice regarding renting credit checks.
It's looking likely that our landlady is going to want to put the our house on the market soon, so we'll be on the move again! joys of renting!
Since moving in to this house we've gone onto a DMP and have several defaults between us and I have a DM marker on another account. Now we're getting a bit worried about finding another house and passing the tenant referencing. I've had a google and found a few things that say the info they can access is quite limited and defaults and DM markers etc. won't show up.
Is this right?

Thanks for that, I've just had a look and it says ccjs will show, which is fine as we don't have any. It also states
"Adverse Financial Check – adverse checks highlight red flags in a tenant’s financial background (e.g. CCJs and other adverse data) that can provide crucial warning signs into a tenant’s suitability and ability to make rental payments"
but doesn't specify what 'adverse data' is. IVAs and bankruptcies I'm guessing as they're both on public records?0 -
Yes, just public record data, and checking that against aliases, other linked addresses etc.
To be 100% clear, a tenant credit check cannot show or disclose credit account level data, such as defaults and payment histories, limits etc. The SCOR rules the Credit Reference Agencies follow do not allow these to be shown on a tenant check.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thank you, you've put my mind at rest :0)0

Hi all
I am in a similar situation to original poster and worried about credit check.
If check can not see defaults can it still see the credit score which is low and make judgement from that?
I have been advised that I could risk losing holding deposit if i fail referencing.
I dont have any CCJs, IVA or bankruptcy. Just some defaults on credit card and loans which are now under payment plan with lenders.
Should I say something before handing over holding deposit ?
Many thanks0 -

The credit score/rating is only seen by you, no 1 can see it, I repeat No 1 except yourself can see it irrespective of what any lender etc will say to you.0 -

No lender can see your credit score - those are indicative. Each lender has their own criteria and may generate their own based on your credit history. In the case of letting agents, my understanding (based on a significant amount of anecdotal evidence on this site) is that they see very little of your history and is confined to checking identity (electoral role) and matters of public record (ccj's/bankruptcies).0 -
Thanks, according to checkmyfiles i have a very good "public" score.
Should I say anything about defaults then?
I have heard cases where a prospective tenant has failed referencing, in some cases they arent told why and not got fees back?
I have been advised to be upfront but would that be divulging CCJs etc if i had them ?0
