Dear MSE members,
I'm a single person looking to rent a new home in a new area that satisfy the conditions below, and would like to ask for ideas and suggestions from knowledgeable forum members. I currently live in central London but am looking to move further out as my circumstances no longer require me to commute to central London every day.
1. Property must be within 10 minutes walk of a tube/train station that has direct links to central London with a journey time of no longer than 1 hour. Total door-to-door time to Oxford Circus 1.5 hours - max. I have some mobility-limiting factors so this is quite important.
2. There must be a supermarket within the vicinity of the station and property. It must be a proper supermarket (not a large off-licence) and best if it were situated directly in between the property and the station or right beside either of them.
3. A 1-bed or studio property, ideally built and decorated to relatively modern standards i.e. wooden floors, double-glazing, walk-in shower, etc. (ideally)
4. Rent, inclusive of bills, must not exceed GBP 800.00 per month.
5. A nearby park and ideally a health club too. Ideally the property, supermarket, station and exercise facility would be all contained within a narrow, efficient radius.
6. Some surrounding greenery i.e. ideally not an industrial complex. The greener the better.
7. A major international airport like Heathrow or Gatwick should be ideally accessible within 2 hours.
Please help me find a new home! Your knowledge and advice is highly appreciated.

Abbey Wood? Crossrail coming soon, new Sainsbury's just opened, plenty of relatively affordable property. Lesnes Abbey & woods just over the road. Not sure about Gyms.
Gravesend via HS1. Station in town centre, Tesco, Aldi, Lidl & Asda nearby. Riverside properties available, some with own leisure facilities. Various gyms & other leisure facilities, including women-only.0 -
Woking, Guildford, Farnborough, Reading0

Folkestone. High speed trains to London and morrisons within 10 mins walk of main station. Sainsburys and asda in town probably same distance.
I agree Flitwick definitely fits all the requirements you have mentioned. Some very nice flats right near station but you would have for one to come up for rent.
What about personally do you want beach, cafe culture or a quiet location?
Doesn't sound like you want parking for a car.

These are all such helpful replies that I'm quite taken aback. I've never posted in this forum so didn't know what to expect but I'm amazed and thank you! For someone who hasn't lived outside of London the dilemma was initially quite daunting but now I have some starting points
Please keep suggestions coming!

Of the three probably beach or quiet? I don't drink much coffee so cafes have never been crucial in my life.
I hadn't considered parking having lived without a car in London for so long, but it makes me think I could consider one as I would be living further away. Hmmm!0
