... way more space than expected. Someone plasterboarded over walls, chimneybreast, ceiling of the attic room with at least 1ft of empty space left to the original wall/ceiling (no insulation material, just empty space).

Under the carpets - some of the 100yo original tiles of fireplaces long gone, awww.

Broken windowsills the missing wood replaced with a cover of thin MDF. Slipped tiles on the roof, crumbling plaster - basically what we had been expecting. And greeting cards from the previous owners (no, not to us unfortunately)

Swastikas painted on all the walls in dark varnish then wallpapered over. I had to get the whole house skimmed to get rid of 'em!!
