This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all
Well here I am again, up and awake and it's just after 3am, I'm hoping to get some more sleep later but it depends what time DGD gets up. She is very good and I could send her downstairs to watch TV but that doesn't seem fair so I'll get up when she gets up.
I've got a couple of loads of washing done ready to go on the line as soon as it is light enough to see the washing line and I need to bottom out the living room later when DGD has gone home. I think we are making Barbie clothes when she gets up.
I need to speak to someone at work about hubby, they are treating him appallingly as some changes are being put in place and he is becoming ill again. I doubt it will make any difference to what is going on but I will make them aware that I will hold them responsible for his state of health if they insist on carrying on.
I think I'll make a cuppa, see it that help me feel sleepy.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning Hester, and all who arrive later.
I was desperately trying to keep my eyes open by 10 last night so went to bed and slept until 4. I have a load of washing to go out in a minute, and ten need to look up train and bus times for today's appointment. OH will take me to the station.
Tomorrow will be a day off, and am a bit tired so I think that I need one.
Hope everyone has a happy day, the sky is clear here so possibly a bit of sun, lovely.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Good morning everyone
I've been awake for a while and have already demolished half a cold pizza, why does it taste nicer the next day? Hmmm, I will have to be really really good this week to get a loss, not ordering pizza would be a great start I think:o.
Hubby and the girls are still fast asleep so I will make myself a cup of tea in a minute and sort out a meal plan for the next week. I have been debating starting Slimming World as there is a meeting just down the road from me. I would like my hubby to come with me as I don't think I can get there on my own but I am finding it hard to ask him and I don't really know why.
Today we are going to have a clean up this morning, I have lots of washing to do to keep me out of mischief. DD16 is going to have a sleepover at her friend' s house which is brilliant as she doesn't like to leave our house for anything. Apparently she is going to make a birthday cake for her friend this morning and then take it over there before they all go out to lunch at our local 'spoons.
Well Max is huffing and puffing so I am going to get him his breakfast. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Well I was right about DGD, she was awake at 5:30 and we have been playing Domino Rally ever since!Chin up, Titus out.0

Morning everyone.
I think it's the full moon keeping us awake. I woke at about 3.30 for the loo and the sky was so light with the moon, I didn't need any room lights.
My neighbour the farmer came round last night to put together the new scarifier for me and try it out. He stayed for a blether too which I really enjoyed.
That means that todays task is to get out on the lawn and scarify it. I'll need to get some lawn feed before I start. As the day looks to be another lovely one it'll be good to be out and about.
Food will be yogurt and berries for breakfast and cove got a pork loin steak with piles of veggies for later.
Happy Saturday everyone.0 -
Morning all.
Hester I was in the same position as you regarding hubby a few years back. He has a very manual job and on top of that they expected him to drive three hours every day to and from work because they didn't want to pay an out of town allowance. A whisper in the site foreman's ear from me that went something like 'i hope you have good insurance because if he kills himself on the road I'll sue the !!!! off you'. Thankfully he doesn't have that problem now he's self employed.
The car is in the garage having new brake pads this morning so we are off for a wander round Kidderminster. Food shopping later.
Onwards and forwards

What a beautiful morning, cold but the sun is shining!
HH - What more can life throw at you? Have a big hug. Domino Rally sounds good though!
I'm off to Oban on the train today, a friend and I decided yesterday to do something today and we've both been talking about a train journey for ages. Really looking forward to it.
Have a good weekend. Take care. XX0 -
Morning all. HESTER don't just worry about your DH, look after you too. I hope you do manage a bit of sleep catch up later.
A glorious start here too. Yesterday we didn't get any rain but sun was in short supply and it felt quite chilly. Today promises to be better. I really must get on with planting all the summer bulbs DD bought me on Mothers Day. I'm not a cold weather gardener these days, I need to feel warm sun on me! These old bones don't like chilly weather!
First though a trip down to H*mebase for weedkiller, plant food and compost. I'll have a browse of perennials too and see what catches my eye. Lots of bare spaces to fill. I'd go to the garden centre over the hill but all the unusual and exotic plants and pots there tempt me too much and I'd end up spending a small fortune!
GERS I was wondering what to have for breakfast, yogurt and berries has whet my appetite. I'll get an assortment out to defrost.
Have a good day everybody and I hope the sun is shining on you all too. (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed. JUDI thinking of you and JACKIE too. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone
HH - thanks for starting us off even though it's a rather early one! Hope you get chance to have a nanna nap later x
Hugs to those that need/want them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, blue sky and light cloud, looks quite bright at the moment, hoping it stays that way, have a wash load that I want to get line dried if possible.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken pieces, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg for the menfolk. I had fish pie and veg - when I made the fish pies on Wednesday I only had enough mash to top one pie so yesterday afternoon I sorted through the freezer as I very often freeze odd bits of LO's and I managed to find a portion of frozen mash, which I defrosted and used on my fish pie - another result in not wasting anything. Dinner tonight will be chicken in black bean sauce, savoury rice, mushroom chow mein and pancake rolls.
I had a real result yesterday when I went to do my food shopping, I like to get my meat from MrM's and was looking for a joint for Sunday roast and couldn't find anything I liked the look of in price or size in the fridges so went to the butchery counter, I decided on a joint of boneless shoulder of pork, which they were running an offer on, and the individual joint had already been weighed and priced at £4.07, when the butcher re-weighed it, the price came out at £4.98, so he double checked the prices etc and whoever had priced it up originally had made a mistake, so he apologised and said as it's been advertised at that price I have to sell it to you for that and compensate you for our mistake, so he found a tiny piece of pork, weighed it and the price was £2.05, he then sold me the bigger joint for the lower price! Result joint of pork for £2.05, that's going to taste so good tomorrow!
I'm again quite pleased how productive I was yesterday, got the food shopping done, then received a telephone call from a distressed MIL, all in a flap over ill person - so I finished up speaking later in the afternoon with ill person's immediate family and finding out exactly what's going on. MIL then rang us at 10.20pm in a right mood, fortunately DH spoke to her and she was moody and stroppy with him so he put the phone down on her, not ideal I know but it's her own fault she didn't have anything to do with ill person for 2 and half years until ill person became ill. She's going to have to live with that guilt and regret, as ill person is not going to get better and it's just time really, which is weeks, not really months or years. We just continue to support ill person and their immediate family. We're going to the hospital this afternoon, I'm working this morning, then we'll get a quick lunch and then head off.
I managed to have a sort out of my main food cupboard, unfortunately I did have to throw a few out of date tins away that I wasn't happy would be safe to eat but now have a clear idea of what I actually have. I also made 2 dozen small cakes with fruit and cherries in, and some biscuits that I then dipped in melted chocolate, I also made a loaf of bread, which we ate most of last night with dinner - all made from store cupboard supplies or fridge that needed using up.
Keep safe and well x

Happy Saturday one and all!
Hester - Hope you managed to nod back off. Horlicks does it fir me.
Camelot - I love Oban!! The seafood there is the best I've tasted in the UK. Have a safe journey.
Abuela/Gers - I think I'll do the same!!! I have some Greek yoghurt left and raspberries. Chuck in so muesli and a drizzle of honey.
Nmlc - what a bargain! It's taste much better than usual.
Today WILL be a productive day. I'll help my step dad paint his shed, I'll go to the gym, visit the library and clean the inside of my car. I have a friends engagement party tonight so I'll be sure to keep expenditure to a minimum.
Have a happy and wonderful weekend my cyber friends.0
