    :)

    Lovely.

But can I please remind everyone that this is not The Arms. It is meant to be the place where the chattier kind (but still on topic) of Old Style posts can be made.

By all means take the party off to Curry_Queen's birthday thread and I'll be more than glad to join you there in a short while.

So put the kettle on and, in the nicest possible way... buzz off :p;):)

Shops a bit empty tonight - where has everyone gone?

I did notice it smelt of vinegar in here, I think Queenie did the tables with it before she left tonight!

oh dear! Looks like the coffee shop is going to take alota looking after! Squeaky you are going to get sick of this place soon! :D:D

Can I start a money saving old style proper chit chat thread?
I have £8 of my food budget left for this week (till Friday) . Its just for me and I have seriously fallen off of the cooking band wagon - very very busy at the moment and too tired to do anything constructive when get home -keep buying yellow sticker bread rolls from Tesco on way past at midnight (yes, THAT busy) and just eating them with marg that your meant to cook cakes with (thats the only other thing left in the fridge) its not good! I went through all my batch cooked freezer stuff last week and the week before I did the store cupboard challenge so they are bare too.
I need to get some veg in or I'm going to get scurvy!
anyone want to suggest a menu plan that for me?
Be a bit of an anika challenge for y'all and keep everyones mind off cakes (mmmm......caaaaakkkesss.. I digress  )
    - so ....................£8, five days of meals and about half an hour to cook everyday - should be eeeeeassssy!!! anyone goin to rise to the challenge? huh huh? :D:D
I've made my debts bite-size too depressing to look at all at once so am handling them one at a time - first up Graduate Loan £1720 paid off! only £280 to go!!!
Money to raise for tuition fees: £3000
When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on!!

Beans on toast. Every day. Easy.

Bit of grated cheese on top and melted under the grill if you have any money left :)

Pasta with a bit of any of the tin of tomato plus other bits that are scattered all over the site.

Have boiled spuds, cabbage, with sausages and gravy. Make extra spud and cabbage to use for bubble and squeak the next day.

Stir fry onion and bits of veg with some tinned tuna and drop a couple of eggs in.

Raid the various Recipe Collections for anything that looks quick and easy and might have a bit of green stuff in it.

    erm... :)

O.k having been told off by squeaky I have one or two suggestions for quick cheap meals.

    1. Buy a pack of bacon off cuts (available from most supermarkets and very cheap). Make a bacon pasta with adden chopped onions and garlic herbs, Stir through pasta and eat with some grated cheese and black pepper.

    2. Make a large batch of minestrone soup with vegetables and tinned toms and some stock, fry some of the chopped bacon and serve with some of those yellow stickered baps.
Will probably make enough for at least two meals.

    3. Use rest of bacon in a Spanish type omelette with added potato and onion or anything else cheap and cheeful and quickly cooked.

    4. Macaroni cheese with added frozen broccoli. quickly mamde cheese sauce using single cream and grated cheese. (any bacon left by now)

    5. Sorry can't think of anything else now brain has been pickled.
