Solar iBoost problem
Comments
-
I have now replaced the element and the thermostat and rewired between the iboost and immersion.
Still not working, mostly says "water hot" but occaionally you get the flashing blue light which indicates water heating by solar BUT it takes the full 3kw even when not generating 3kw and says heating off while doing it.
Is the iboost at fault.
Only had it six months.4kWp, South facing, 16 x phono solar panels, Solis inverter, Lincolnshire.0 -
Do you have anything on the secondary output of the iboost (storage heater or similar), does that work? If you dont, and want to test, can get hold of a oil radiator type heater (not a smart one, just a basic unit), try wiring that up and see if you get the same message on the secondary output. Also, have you checked the batteries in the sending unit. I'm clutching at straws now, but it is beginning to sound like the iboost itself may be faulty.0

I might try wiring the immersion to the second output now you mention it.
Not currently got anything on second output.4kWp, South facing, 16 x phono solar panels, Solis inverter, Lincolnshire.0 -
Try emailing marlec, when mine broke they were in contact straight away and it was replaced in a week.0

I have their contact details. If i have to wait a week there will be trouble.
What happened to yours, anything like what i am getting?.4kWp, South facing, 16 x phono solar panels, Solis inverter, Lincolnshire.0 -
Hi Ajbell
Mine caught fire about 3 months after I had it. I'm not sure why. I was told one of the wires had worked loose. I was assured any fire would be contained in the unit, but still glad I was home that day and able to turn it off quite soon after I smelt the burning.
