Time for DVLA to unclamp vehicle
Hi there,
I wonder if someone could help. I found my car clamped today in a supermarket car park by DVLA, to cut a long story short I paid the release charge and surity once I walked home. I was unaware the tax had expired.
The DVLA are now closed. Does anyone know how long it will take for them to send someone to unclamp my car?
Also, you can get the surity back in you tax within 14 days, fortunately my pay day is within that time. Does anyone know how long it takes to get the purity refund?
Thank you very much.

Didn't think you could get dvla fees and fines refunded...
Although also didn't realise they could clamp for tax in a private supermarket car park...0 -
It may not be a private car park. There are occasions where the car park is council owned and considered a public carpark. Waitrose carpark in Sandbach is an example (had a council ticket there)0

What's the betting the OP gets a PCN from the parking company "managing" that car park for staying too long?
I think DVLA can enforce at any location where the public have an implied right of access/invitation to access; so this would mean any supermarket car park.0 -
With an angle grinder, release is instant
The following link was for the clamping rogues rather than DVLA but amusing:

Given clamping was banned in England & Wales in 2012 (when the Protection of Freedoms Act came into force) then there shouldn't be any clamping anyway ... except by authorised bodies like Police, DVLA etc.0

You could take DVLA to the European Court of Human Rights as clamping your vehicle has obviously restricted your free movement within the EU.0
