Virgin wants access to my property

Hello!
So after 8 years of continuous demands and refusal as not economically viable.. Virgin has decided they now want to lay fibre optic cables in our street...
I have received a letter as they need our permission to install a network access point outside our property, on our private drive. They basically want us to sign a letter granted them 24/7 access to our private drive and to install this access point.
They are not offering anything in return.
Can this affect the value of our property?
Why would we say yes as we don't want them any more ..
many thanks

no it will no reduce your value , might increase it when you sell.
imagine if you only used electric , no gas and had refused the gas board access , would your house sell better with both gas and electric providersSave a Rachael

If they want to install their equipment on your property that they will then use to provide service to other people (not just you) then you should be telling them to get lost unless they pay you a wayleave payment, especially if you are not that bothered about becoming a VM customer , either a one off (large) payment,in full and final settlement for you allowing them 'access' or a smaller but yearly payment for as long as they have that equipment on your property.
If Openreach were doing something similar , then a wayleave payment would be a fairly standard offering.
It probably won't add or remove value from your property, but if every time a customer gets hooked up to cable or a fault develops and they need access, you may well get fed up them blocking your drive while they work on their equipment
How much do you ask for ?, that's the real question0 -
If I'd been wanting and waiting for them to install it on the street for 8 years I'd leap at it.
They rarely need access to the network points outside individual properties, as they usually serve that one building as an offshoot from the main ducting.
Personally if I was looking to move one of the key things I would be looking for would be the type and variety of high speed internet I could get (and I know a number of others who are the same), so I can't see it hurting the house price.0 -
Suppose you could demand their full package Tv/Phone/BB free forever for letting them use your land.0

It might help with sales later on if you plan on moving out.
If i was looking for a house i'd be looking at the broadband options available there and Virgin Media would be a big positive for me.
But you should ask for something in return IMOAll your base are belong to us.0
