KLM/CityJet Denied Claim

Options
Hi,

This has been an on going argument between the two above mentioned airlines. Last year I was due to fly out the day before Good Friday, I even took half a day off to squeeze some more time with family.
I booked with KLM, but the flight was operated by CityJet as a co-share flight. We were delayed by the fact that they did not have enough staff, and both the original and the backup aircraft failed. We were delayed at the gate, and spent two hours in the aircraft before being told the good news that we'd be staying in London overnight with a flight the next day, which was delayed a further 3hrs as the aircraft was still under repair).
To me, that's a clear cut delay(s). I called KLM that day and they were sorry for the incident, but it was a Cityjet issue. I contacted CityJet and got told because I made the booking with KLM, it was a KLM issue. I resubmitted to KLM and with a 6 week delay in responding after I called to ask of the delay itself. I was told the responsibility lies with the carrier. Again, I contacted CityJet and they promptly refused again.
So I feel that I'm owed two lots of compensation for the disastrous trip. Who do I turn to get this resolved? Friends that I met on the flight have gotten their compensation after submitting and calling weeks later after they 'lost' his details and delayed the payment.

Thanks in advance.

Andrew.

Claim is with the operating airline
compensation depends on length of delay and reason
    all covered in Vauban's guide

Only one compensation due for your initial cancellation. Unless you actually got refund and booked the flight the next day, in which case you would be due compensation for the delay on the second flight. If you were rebooked on the second flight, as I suspect you were, then only 1 compensation payment.
Canny forumites might be seeing a trick here the next time their flight is delayed a long time or cancelled and they can get another ticket for a similar price to the original. ;)
Oh and yet again why is this not on the dedicated KLM thread?
