They changed their name because they bought last minute and they're the better brand.

Most people who have major issues with these poorly run agents are lacking in basic airline ticket knowledge. If you vaguely know what you're doing it will be fine.

And while a voucher is hardly ideal, but do you have a better option?

Lastminute now seem to have the same appalling customer service as their owners - unfortunately, hence the increase in complaints about them. They once were the better brand, but it would appear no longer.

Do you seriously think Bravofly are fine? :( If people vaguely knew what they were doing they would only book direct with the airline, or at least a reputable agent. If people read the fare rules and the T&Cs granted it would help, but that doesn't account for why tickets get cancelled, or payments taken twice, or customers left with 'illegal' MCTs when an airline reschedules etc. and no help forthcoming. One thing in their favour though, they're better than eDreams, but then everyone is ;)

No, I don't have an alternative to a voucher other than why book now when you know that there is the possibility of having to cancel? If I really had to book it now then I would make sure the financial loss was part of the relocation package. I said it because the OP mentioned 'refund' which it isn't.

Because Lastminute is bravofly. Ask a random person whether they trust LastMinute or Bravofly more and I'm fairly certain they'd still go for Lastminute.

I tend not to call companies I think are fine "poorly run". That being said, I've saved hundreds of pounds using Bravofly and eDreams, but you clearly know best.

For the same reason people always book in advance - to secure a ticket at the current price. It sounds like you're just copying Voyager as that doesn't fit in with the rest of your post at all (if the company would reimburse it then it's a no brainer to book right now), but if the company says "no, it won't be included in relocation expenses"?

because the price is very good at the moment, that's the main reason
What makes you think it won't be "very good" in a few months time? If it is really "very good" then it might be cheaper to simply lose the flight than buying insurance!

Edreams and Budgetair have paid out in the past for me, but for whatever reason I haven't been using TCB with them for a while.

I'm fairly certain (with Opodo particularly) I was getting lower prices by going via Kayak than I was by using the "normal" sites through TCB.

I've also found with Opodo, if I click the "compare with Opodo" box that sometimes appears on the first page on Kayak I randomly get quotes that are significantly below the Opodo quote in the Kayak results page.

Though as I said before, you need to know exactly what you're doing if you're using these dodgy agents. If you know how to verify that a booking has been made correctly and you've allowed time to sort out any potential issues (only happened once to me - with eDreams when I was trying to buy an obviously non-existent 99p Aegean flight!) then it should all be fine.

EDIT: I've just been looking for a flight and it gave the perfect example of this. For Perth to Kuala Lumpur, Opodo quotes £92 on the normal Kayak results page, but clicking the "compare with Opodo" button before starting the search opens a new window where Opodo now quotes £72 - £20 less than it's normal quote and £13 less than buying direct from the airline.
