So let me get this straight, You have a window that you can't lock, Security risk.
Guy from window firm contacts you to fix problem asap but you are out the next day so he can't gain access and fix problem.
He may have been and has measured up for new window.
Landlord is improving property and you are not happy.
How much is a new sink and fitting ?
    New window and fitting ?
Not your worry as you are the tenant

You contacted LL by email and phone call and ask them to let tradespeople into the property !!!!

I live on the 3rd floor, not a chance anyone can get up this high to get in and the window is tiny its not much bigger than a paperback book.

And they already did the measuring before I moved in this was purely to actually put the window in.

And to the other poster well I couldnt go for them when they weren't advertised when I looked for this one could I? I didn't know waiting a week would mean better properties available.

left a message for my landlord by email and phone asking if possible to let them in

Your landlord probably took this as permission, even if your call was actually about a different tradesman.
