Contracts recieved but still no survey

Just got the contracts and deed transfer docs for the sale of my house through, yet the buyers survey still not done into 7th week of process.
I have chased and chased this up with last up date is that they were instructed last Thursday.
Should I hold off signing - I am not in a chain as not buying another property.

Presumably your solicitor is aware of the lack of survey/speed from the buyer before preparing/sending all paperwork
What does your EA say - is the buyer fully proceedable or playing for time ?0 -
Chase up what the hold up is with the estate agent, or if there isn't one it'll have to be the solicitors.0

Back on the market it goes!0

Actually signing at this stage wont commit you. The solicitor has to be ok for you to proceed with everything in place. Signing now just means there is one less thing to do.
What is wrong with people though. The fibs and lies we are spun! If you don't want to buy something please don't string people along. On another thread the buyer just disappeared, seemed to be on endless holidays with no way of contacting them.
These sorts of buyers and sellers need to be taken to task for their behaviour. However, if you are asking me to how to resolve this - I have no idea but there must be a better way of buying and selling.0 -

I would tell your estate agents and solicitors that you'll remarket the property if exchange doesn't happen in a set time of your choosingCurrently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

thanks for the replies, I have been chasing for last 3 weeks with ea and solicitors - if no word today then I will be remarket the house. Even after a survey carried out lord only knows how long will take to get a mortgage offer after that .I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0

I was told he needed a small mortgage and has hugh deposit, found out 4 weeks in when I chased survey that buyer is self employed, having been self employed myself in past I know that means extra hoops to jump through. but we were told should have survey within week then and same following week and etc. then last week that changed saying surveyors were just instructed last week.! so basically lied to or misinformed for least 2 weeks .
I know the process is ridicously slow, but if people were just honest and kept those involved informed it would safe a lot of stress and pressure not to mention continuous calls having to ask what is happening.I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0 -
again thanks for all the input, defo helped clarify my thoughts, and funnily enough when I asked what my options were as not heard I got a call with in 2 hrs to arrange valuation for next tuesday .................:) a step closer to life afloatI am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0
