Continual changes to Flight Times

Hi,

Not sure if I can name the company, however think about a number and that's the one.

We were due to fly out at 3.20pm to Alicante and getting in around 7.15, now after 3 changes we are flying out at 5.00pm not getting in till 8.55pm.

Our return flight has also changed from 12 noon to 11.40am.

Thing is I noticed on the website that the 5.00pm flight, the return is at 9.10pm.

Thing is time we get through Alicante airport, wait on bus group and travel which is 1.30 hrs we will not 1. Have any food (it's AI we're on) since Manchester Airport (don't do Plane food) and 2. There is the high possibility of not actually being in my room for 12 midnight.

So basically I'll be getting 6 nights AI and maybe even 6 nights actual accommodation.

Has anyone had any previous experience of something like that, should I be entitled to enquire if I can get some sort of compensation or at least a slight discount?

Basically my initial flights are not available now and anyone else on my flight out actually get's an extra days AI from it as they don't fly out till 9.10pm that night? (fair enough they are out their apartment probably, but they've got access to all that goes with the AI package still).

I don't want to cancel the holiday, which may be an option as I have kiddies that are promised the holiday, so that is not an option.

TIA

A 1h40m schedule change is fairly minor and unlikely to give you any rights but you'll need to check the T&C of your booking.

on the way back, check the checkout time...you will be able to make use of the facilities until then whereas at the original time you would have had to check out early
    reschedules often happen
    when did you book?
when are you due to travel?

My daughter and her family went to Tenerife with Thomson for Easter. When they originally booked the holiday there were two flights on their departure day. One got them to their hotel around lunch time the other was much later in the day. They chose the early flight which was more expensive.

Fast forward to a couple of weeks before the holiday and the flight had changed to the later one. Even though they had paid extra to travel early in the day, a complaint to Thomson fell on deaf ears.

They went to the Sensortori in Tenerife so not a cheap holiday. Incidentally, she has two young children and it was pushing midnight by the time they were in the hotel.

Yeah I know what you mean, but never had something like this before and just wondering and I always remember how the holiday firms give you the need to book your room from whatever time earlier in that day, with the possibility of me not actually being in the room for 23:59 means that the 12/24 hr (whatever room booking requirement) will not be done. Your talking nearly £300 a day we're paying.

I booked way last year, probably August/September time and I travel 25th June.

Not sure if I explained the return time as my time has not changed, I am still on that early flight so I'll be out early.

So basically all those people on my flight out won't actually return till later on that day, they are getting the benefit of the extra hours i.e. water/zoo access, food etc etc.

    Not relevant

May be an option but you will most likely not get any refund

as I have kiddies that are promised the holiday, so that is not an option.

I can see why you are confused, but this is not relevant to the OP.

    As Caz has said
Reschedules happen often. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't

When are you flying as the times may still change.

Unless they alter by 12 hrs (read the TA T&C's) you will just have to suck it up I'm afraid.

    Thanks all for feedback.

Would I be right in saying then that technically TA have the right to move a 7 night holiday to a 6 night holiday as long as they are under 12 hours? As that is technically what may well happen?

Not sure if that is right to be honest, from a legal point.

I think you have to read their T&C's as to what constitutes a 7 night AI holiday.
Only done one in 30 years but IIRC they have a get out clause that says words to the effect "may not be 7 nights in resort"

You don't lose a night just by checking in after midnight.

If they cancelled your accommodation for the night and refused to check you in until 10am the next morning you would have grounds for complaint, but in the grand scheme of things a delay of 1hr 40minutes is pretty minor.

On the odd occasion where we've been delayed while travelling on package holidays the hotel has generally had a meal available on our arrival.

Yeah, I can see what you mean, but just weird with the timings as my return flight can't be found now on Jet2, it isn't available, so they've by the looks of things cancelled my original flight?

The thing that is bothering me is due to it being an AI, I know from regular trips to Greece and likes, you get flights like these and you usually have a long stay at night before your flight, with SC fine if you get an earlier flight, but in AI you're always looking to benefit the other way, but whilst I'm getting the benefit of that I'm paying nearly £300 to do so as opposed to a SC holiday or such which you can book late rooms from £18 or the likes.

It's a new one to me with AI as something like this has never came up before for me, and don't think it's the norm tbh.

You still have a bed for 7 nights (even if the first night is a late arrival so it is still a 7 night holiday.
