Upgrade PC - SDD and 3.5 HDD

If this is for a desktop device, and you're on a fairly stable household, not moving stuff around too much, you could just bodge and make do. An SSD has no moving parts, minimal power requirement, and very low heat dissipation, so the risk of using a gaffer tape caddy is lower than for a HDD

The only issue with leaving an SSD hanging loose is if the case gets moved or knocked it may become unplugged.
It wont really damage the drive though, and not much of an issue if the case never moves.
i just cable tie mine to the side of the case0 -

Given the troubles I've had in the past unplugging reluctant connectors, I'd say this is an absolute one in a million possibility. It would take a drop off a flatbed truck or worse to do this.0 -
Hi
This caddy appears to place the 2.5" drive directly in the middle of the caddy (equidistant on all 4 sides) but there appears to be a PCB at the front.
Can you confirm if the 2.5" drive slots in to the PCB (internally) and then the PCs power / SATA cable connect to the PCB externally?
It's a while since I fitted mine but I'm sure that's how it works, if you look at the Amazon pictures you can see the sata/power connections are external and in exactly the same place as they would be on a 3.5in drive.

it does depend on the SSD and connector, i've had some that have had a pretty loose fitting, and others that have been difficult to get off0
