Hotel said they will request PE cancel the notice. They say they do a few per week. Said I will hear nothing if it is cancelled, if not will receive another notice in a month and to forward that to them aswell.

So do I just sit back and wait? Will this affect any future popla appeal should it be required?

Good to hear but you MUST get this in writing either on hotel paper or they can send you an email.
They say they will "request" it is cancelled.
    YOU NEED CONFIRMATION,

You will not need POPLA for this one as long as you get written confirmation. if you get another ticket in the future this will have no bearing.

Just be very wary of car parks who use Parking Eye, try to avoid

While written confirmation from the hotel is useful, you need to get it in writing from PE. It is their charge, not the hotel's. We saw a similar case last year where the hotel said 'Yep, OK, parking charge cancelled', the OP hearing no more until court papers were served by PE.

So you need to be gearing yourself to send the initial appeal into PE (using the blue text template in the newbies sticky) adding a paragraph to confirm the hotel has said its cancelled - attaching a copy of any written confirmation from the hotel.

Don't sleepwalk into missing the initial appeal deadline, or you could be staring down the barrel of a court case.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Why not just email* PE or put in a challenge on their webpage that says that xxxx the Manager at xxxxxx Hotel has confirmed that this PCN should be cancelled and so you require confirmation this has happened, otherwise you challenge the entire charge as registered keeper and require a POPLA code.

They do normally reply to emails, or they email cancellations if you state something like this on PE's contact webpage. Your choice, or do both.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

    Thanks Coupon-mad

Emailed PE and have a confirmation email that PCN has been cancelled. Hotel was very helpful and confirmed request to cancel in email too and said to not pay.

Thanks for all your help and hopefully my story will help others in the future.

    Good. Every little helps.

Even if this dreadful building is listed I'm sure Ramada could have a chat with the planning authority about installing some kind of discreet barriers. I'll bet they haven't even tried, just gone for the cheap'n'lazy option.
