BT Equipment Charge

Options
I've decided to move from BT back to Sky for my internet. I'll be leaving approx 2-3 weeks before my 12 month contract is up.

While I was expecting the early termination charge, I was shocked to get an email saying they want to charge a £65 equipment charge. After some digging around in their Terms and Conditions, I finally found this hidden in their full tariff guide.

I'm going to call to query the charge, as this isn't something I've experienced with any other provider in the past. I've got no use for the Home Hub, so will happily return if that's what they want.

Anyone else had any experience dealing with BT on this?

I have seen this mentioned before but you are breaking the terms of the contract that you agreed to. Would you like it if they changed the terms that you had agreed to?

This would not have happened if you had simply waited until you were out of your minimum contract term, presumably you are trying to jump ship early to get an offer.

I have jumped ship early for a deal and don't dispute that I'm breaking the terms of contract by leaving early.

I totally expected to pay early termination charges, the equipment charge is just something I've never come across before. For instance I left Sky early last year for an offer with BT and at no point did they ask for Hub back or try to charge me for it (I just ended up recycling it).

Suppose you could ebay the hub to recoup a few quid?

Did you return the homehub? Some isp's require you to return them or face the cost of the router being charged to you.
    Kind Regards

I haven't returned, but I have asked them if that's an option. So far no reply...
