Its a fairly simple job on a Fusion.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
You're assuming a Macpherson strut, where the damper is internal to the strut.sacsquacco wrote: »Its not a DIY job separating a shocker from its spring. The power in a compressed spring is scary..Garage job I think unless its not surrounded by a coil spring. The back end on a Fusion is a MUCH simpler affair, and will just be a single bolt top and bottom of the damper. Jack up, support arm, unbolt, bolt.0 -

Thats why I made it quite clear by the comment that if its "surrounded by a spring "leave it to a garage. One would have to buy a pair of spring compressors anyway. If not, its a doddle. I would expect that the vast majority of cars have the Macpherson strut set up.0 -

Not a garage job when coil spring compressors are so cheap and a chimp can do it.

haha, wow ! that is cheap. £2.90 !!Times have changed .Mine cost me approx £30 forty years ago..OK its a diy job then at that price. Compress the spring a bit before undoing the top nut to take the pressure off..I m a bit wary of a the hooks on that cheap !!!!!! schit metal spring compressors..hope they dont shear off at full compression..and I bet they will eventually. They must ve cost less than 50p to make to sell at less than three quid !0 -

The Fusion is not like the above picture though. Simple job.
If you can take a wheel off then you can take a shock off.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
