    we getting nearer 7% :rotfl:
Are we about to see a 'bond war'?

I mean, if the banks won't lend to each other (in the current climate), and the BOE won't reduce the rate they lend to the banks (sort your own mess out!), then the banks need to raise money from somewhere...don't they?

Well, the greedy !!!!!! banks (led by Barclays) seem to be keeping their repo rates high whist having a go at the BoE for not dropping their "last resort" rate (to paraphase Barclays Diamond (geezer? insert your own term here) "why don't BoE, ultimately taxpayers/little people lend us cheap money so's we can flog it on at higher rates - we're risking my multi-mill bonus here you know".

(un)fortunately (and surprisingly) Merv seems to be giving them the finger, so SHOCK HORROR they're having to offer decent "little people" rates.

west brom Bond typical? I'm new toi these kind of accounts. I'm struck by "No withdrawals or additional investment allowed. Strictly limited offer - investments accepted on a first come first served basis. "

So you can only make one deposit when you open the account, and then it's fixed for the year?

Is there some reason why rates like '..86%' are offered? I understand them going 0.01% higher than the competition but historically the Bank of England rate used to be pitched half way between the '.00'., '.25', '.50', '0.75' bands that it had lately inhabited i.e it would go '6.13', '6.38', '6.62' and '6.88'
