Just in case of this issue I didn't mention putting another SIM in and just accepted the new one from the nice lady who said we would get some welcome texts, no we wont unless it jumps out the bin into the phone..

Yes of course! what a monstrously good suggestion.. I use my work phone as my personal phone so I am not allowed to send premium texts often feel bad when the kids ask...

Strange. Why would someone feel bad about NOT sending premium rate texts??

Because I feel proud of them when an appeal moves them and they want to show compassion by making a donation. Doing it on-line is not so 'instant' and phoning in which we do can take a lot of time and tries to get through.

Kids could do the texts themselves if I put the sim in an old spare handset and feel the satisfaction of 'helping' some else.

So your kids are sending premium rate texts to charities - or would like to? Maybe there is the exception which proves the rule. Having said that, a lot of these things are more to do with marketing and very few charities are likely to receive all of the cost.

Do you have a better suggestion for using up credit on a SIM you are going to bin anyway? Be interested to hear it.

Even if the charity get only a small bit of it, its still better than nothing if I just bin the sim!

The one your children wanted to send premium rate texts on wasn't the one which you bought with the new phone:-
