Does quiche freeze as I used to make it a lot but never froze it.
I usually make quiche if I have veg and eggs to use up (we don't use many eggs - usually just for a cake). Or I buy yellow sticker quiche for my lunches, as it is only me that eats quiche I cut it up and freeze in single portions. If it did not freeze I would never eat it.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0 -
I make individual pastry less quiches in those deep pan cupcake things. I add cheeses, peppers, spinach, onion, ham, whatever I have to hand that I'd ordinarily put in an omelette or quiche/flan. They pop out and freeze, great for breakfast, brunch, lunch or supper!0

Today's experiment is freezing/re-heating toad-in-the-hole. I cooked an oven sized tray full consisting of 10 sausages from The Black Farmer (gluten free) - £3 - plus my usual proper Yorkshire batter (1 cup each of flour, eggs & milk) which adequately provides enough for 5-6 adult portions.
I also cooked up a batch of mustard mash and onion gravy. We had green veg with today's meal but that never freezes well, so just the mash & portions of toad-in-hole have been frozen.0 -
When you think you know it all but then keep learning more! I realised you could freeze most things but didn't realise how many meals you could make and freeze - I always freeze left over Yorkshire puddings but never thought about toad in the hole too. Thanks!!Living the simple life0

I freeze quiches in slices as well as cheese and onion pie. Great to grab a slice out for a lunch box filler
Fish pie also freezes and reheats very well and is fine for warmer days as its not so heavy as say a steak pie
I also batch cook curry sauce when I get onions ys. It's handy to have ready to jazz up left over chicken or meat
Maybe batch cook tomato sauces ready to add to boiled pasta?0 -
In addition to all the above, I batch-cook breakfast muffins (made with oats, grated carrot, sultanas or sometimes chopped pineapple) and freeze those as I can add them to lunchboxes from frozen first thing in the morning and they're defrosted and ready to eat in a couple of hours.
Mister CJ takes a packed lunch to work with him, and is very boring about the sandwich fillings he will tolerate - he only likes plain things such as grated cheese with chutney, or smooth pate with black pepper. I often make up a whole week's worth of bread rolls filled with these, wrap individually and freeze. I add them to his lunchbox early each mornng and they've defrosted nicely by lunchtime (and in the summer, it keeps everything else nice and cool too). Salad fillings don't freeze, but he doesn't like those anyway
If my hens are laying well and I have too many eggs, I will often make some plain sponge sandwich cakes and freeze those - they can be brought out and filled with jam and cream if we need an instant teatime cake, or used as trifle bases.0 -
I freeze Cottage Pie mix regularly, but add the mash on top on the day it's being eaten, then 30 mins for the lot in the oven.
Does anyone freeze with the mash on top? Always ready to save myself time and effort!!Normal people worry me.0 -

Yes I do, that's what I got out of the freezer last night, I will put it in the plate along with the precooked veg and cover over with the microwave plastic thing and 4 mins and it's ready. Why pay full price when you may get it YS0 -
I do the cottage pie filling but always add the mash or sliced potatoes later as think it tasted funny after it's been frozen but that may just be me!
Chilli out the freezer for tacos tonight - just add shells and salad and cheeseLiving the simple life0 -
Yes I freeze cottage pie with mash already on it.
Also left over mash.
I also batch cook lasagne and veggy lasagne (buy loads of veg from market, or YS ones), OH always reaches for lasagne when I am not eating at home.
Soups.. Always have several different ones in freezer, so my lunches don't get boring.0
