Sorry to hear this Mrssnowy. Hugs being sent your way.
Signing in to register July's budget of £300.
Our month began yesterday and we spent £60.38 for the week's food shop in Ald* today.
Blew June's budget ever so slightly and have decided to adopt an envelope system for our food budget to keep us on track this month. It's definitely a lot easier to kerb spending if we can see it as physical cash rather than money on a bit of plastic so, fingers crossed, this helps us keep things in check.
Meals planned for the week, lunches made for tomorrow: we're on a roll

Had a quick peek in the freezer today which , of course is full to the brim. So hopefully I should be able to factor in a lot of nsd this coming July. I have tonnes of rice too 😁 figure that I will stock up on my tins they seem to be the only thing lacking food wise. I am really excited about getting stuck in. Think my budget is going to be £320 for the month which is not terrible considering I've got two in nappies. But will be interesting to find out how much I actually spend each week because I'm always buying somethingthis is my time to take charge and make life better :j0

Could you put me down for £250 please.
We've had an awful few months financially & I've just done the budget until payday (22ndJuly) and am in a bit of a pickle! I would usually have about £400 left for groceries for the rest of the month.
But it looks like I'm down to just £250, which needs to last 25 days..... it should be doable? Right? Trying not to panic!
There are 5 of us, 3 adults, one 15yr old bottomless pit of a son & an 8yr old, plus cats, quails, fish, bunny & a hamster
Thankfully the cupboards aren't too bare, pet stuff is all topped up, cereals, porridge, rice and pasta have all been replenished.
It's likely I could work some more hours and bring in more money for the month, but part of me really wants to try to hold onto the pennies and scrimp as if my life depended on it, just to prove that it's possible & that we won't go without
Off to make some jam from a glut of rhubarb, I thought it would be yummy in some tarts & a sponge cake for treats for the week£10 per day challenge July 2016 £122.07/3100 -

Afternoon everyone
Made a mullock of June's budget, and am desperate to cut down our outgoings, so trying for £400 for July again, please. This includes all food, groceries, pet food etc, maybe diesel if I can tweak other things! DD gets free school lunches, but not DS who has asked to go back to pack ups - £10 a week for lunch at school! Can definitely do him a very good lunch for well under £2 a day.
Building work has started this week, much more to come over the summer, so we need the cash to pay for that, and the uncertainty around what Brexit will mean has me wanting to go all MSE in every part of our lives!!
Good luck to you all in July.

I spent 55p today on milk at work. Next time a will buy a couple of pints during my shop and take it in to the office.
I did manage to not buy crisps/chocolate at work which is actually quite an achievement, actually took my purse to the shop to buy some and stopped myself.0 -
It's the start of my 'food budget month' today so have done the Morrisons shop (arriving tomorrow) and topped up with cheaper items at the local shops today. Have spent £95.86 , Have £69.14 remaining if I want to keep to the £165 budget.
In theory, even reaching the actual budget of £185 this month will be an achievement and saving from the last few months, but I'm aiming for big and bold!
Have done a food menu for the week, always feel so much better when I have one of them done.Debt Free Stage 1 - Completed 27/08/2020

So, I know there's a 'thanks button' but sometimes more than that is warranted, and this is one of those times...
Tonight I made a recipe from the list at the start of this thread. I've browsed at a few, but this one took my fancy as it used quite a few herbs but, by chance, I had them all
I was, at first, a bit miffed that hubby didn't comment on them, but he's not the biggest turkey fan. So I fished for a compliment and he said they were very nice, tasty!
To draw out the compliment, I explained how easy they were to make and and he looked at me for a moment before saying "You've made these? I was wondering why you'd bought them from waitrose considering we're trying to save pennies!!" He genuinely thought I'd bought them!
So what's the recipe and who's the hero of the moment? Its the absolutely delicious turkey koftes, step on up Coxy11 for a huge round of applause
:T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T
The meat cost £1.69 (YS), split into two, so 85p for a serving for two . Last year, we bought lamb koftes from Waitrose that cost £3.33 that we ate between us in 1 meal.... and that was on the 3 for £10 deal!
I think this calls for a toast to the grocery challenge :beer:August 2016 GC £249.70/£150
July 2016 GC £114.03/ £120
June 2016 GC £170.09/ £1750
