The meter is smaller than the average womans head, although she might be a giant.img94joktmu71687.jpg?bev=1087&nocache=1358891443551

    That's not a terrible size.

I should find out what's happening on Friday. I'm not what you might call a handyman and I'm told that I will probably need to saw through the back of my cupboard so that they have access to the pipe. According to the engineer who visited last month the fitter won't be able to do it for me. I can only hope that he brings a saw as my toolbox only goes as far as screwdrivers.

This is getting beyond a joke. They sent the previous engineer to survey and take pictures today. I waited a month for them to re-do what they did last time with the addition of taking a couple of snaps.

I will have to wait in at least one more time before they actually fit the blasted meter.

I'm really not happy with this level of service. This has been going on since March.

Thames Water really are useless. It's been almost a month since the previous engineers visit and I've just rang them as I hadn't heard. I had been assured by the engineer that they'd be in touch.

They are now due to visit in a fortnight to install the meter. I am likely to need to cut away part of my cupboard but the operator couldn't confirm.

All in all I've already waited in two half days and have now booked a full day to get it installed. If they hadn't mucked up in the first place I wouldn't have needed to stay in at all. They will be getting a letter of complaint and if I could move supplier I would.

Thames Water finally came and fitted the new meter. A fair amount of the back of one of my kitchen cupboards had to be cut out but the result isn't as bad as I'd feared.

I did email a complaint as I'd had to stay in for an engineer to visit on three occasions which was a direct result of their initial incompetence ten years ago. Fingers crossed that they'll answer me at some point.

They have re-issued a bill and somehow or other I'm now just over £750 in credit. I suspect that it's simply a case of them changing my meter reading to zero and it'll all turn out okay in the end.
