money saving heating

after receiving 2 quarterly bills ( one for £550 and one for £412), for a 2 bed flat, I am looking to change my heating system. I currently have storage heaters and as you can see cost a fortune each bill I have apparently use over 3000 kwhs to run 3 heaters which is over £250 in each bill and only used 1051 in one bill and 2000 in the other during the day when everything else is being used! I have read about electric radiators and inferred heating panels, which can both be controlled by thermostats,( and I have read about air pumps but seem out of my price range). just wondering if anyone have actually had inferred fitted and if they are any good.

Better response if this was posted on the Gas & Elec section of the forum, but not your fault as even MSE isn't perfect
Click on the word Energy at the top of the section, this takes you directly to the Gas/Elec forum

When re-posting, give the Day & Night meter readings from both bills

    Welcome to the forum.

I appreciate you are new, but if you do a forum search you will find hundreds of posts on infrared heating.

It really is important for you to appreciate that all electrical heating is 100% efficient! So there is no way of getting cheap electrical heating. The method you have(storage heaters on an E7 tariff) is the cheapest method simply because for 7 hours a day you get cheaper electricity - not just for heating but hot water.

However you need to know how to use your heaters properly, and again a search will give you hundreds of posts to read on that subject. Using 2,000kWh on one quarter during the day suggests you are operating them incorrectly.
