Well, at £8.50 I doubt he's paying tax or insurance as it's not much more than minimum wage, but with overheads of time (getting to the job) and equipment.0

My OH does gardening work and charges £15 a hour, but often gets extra tips and gifts as his customers say he does such a good job. He is extremely busy this time of year and also has businesses doing odd job work, jet washing etc. He did for many years work in IT and used to travel alot, but enjoys this kind of work more tbh.
But he does also do IT repair locally for small businesses and home customers.
He can also give a fixed price for a job if people prefer, but most people prefer the hourly rate and he has plenty of customers who he goes regularly every 2 weeks to.
Mind you I have our new "patio" still sat at the side of the house, no idea when he will get chance to do that lol.

Moving to fixed rate makes a gardener's life so much easier. No clock watching and twice the income! Go part time and earn the same, thus gaining many hours extra with the family. Work efficiently and it's rewarding.0
