£15 per hour for a gardener here, cuts grass, edges the path, takes grass clippings away.
  • I charge £15 /hr, minimum 1hr rate. Seems fair to me.
  • I'd be interested to hear peoples views on someone charging a rate of £120 per hour for mowing. Nope - that isnt a typing error:rotfl:

I have an 80ftx40ft lawn at the back.

I did it myself for many years, but next door got a fella in to do theirs last Summer. I got him aswell this year. Easy gig, two houses next door to one another!

He comes in, strims the edges and paths and mows the lawn. Every two weeks or so. Half an hour tops costs 15.

Money well spent as I absolutely hated cutting the grass. But when it's done its fantastic.

Gives me so much more time to actually do the garden!

    Lady here BTW.

Money, are they fully booked? If so, they're doing something right. But as you gave no details in your post we can't comment.

Yes, that's what I do, but not in the garden!

Sheep will strip anything bare, bar the foxgloves, and if you have a bad 'un, she'll teach the others how to bark the trees too.

I have a hogget arriving soon, in freezer bags. :D

I rather think I do as you say.....

It's an odd way of working things out this particular person does - but when one "does the maths" to see through the self-serving waffle then £120 per hour is what it comes to.

I rather think the £15 per hour rate a lot of people mention here is the "real" rate. The £120 per hour:eek: rate is a try-on merchant.

"I rest my case" about sums it up for today:rotfl:. I've been chatting again with someone I know of locally that does unskilled garden work and told them I will probably "book them" for some stuff I need doing here that I am going to find too hard going for me personally.

I got their contact details and rate per hour and its £8.50 per hour. At that rate - I think there is every chance I will be booking them for some hours here for unskilled garden work that needs doing.:) Whole day's worth of having them here - and big inroads made into my garden work and Happy Days are Here Again imo. At that rate of pay I'm quite happy to feed them lunch/have coffeebreaks/etc. Sorted.....
