Reading SMS and emails from UK on an iphone in Spain - cost?

My sister is currently on holiday in Spain. She has her iphone (Vodafone) with her and uses it to keep in touch by text and email (routed to her iphone.) I should like to send her some images of a project we are working on together. I have an EE (Orange) android mobile and Virgin media for email on my pc.

She tells me there is a problem receiving .pdfs so my photos would have to be sent as SMS/MMS images or email attachments for her to pick up on her iphone.

I don't want her to have to spend a lot of money opening and viewing the images, especially if they are liable to auto download. I don't know how it works with iphones and Vodafone overseas. Anyone able to advise?

    Tell her to find a mcdonalds** and use the wifi. Free of charge.

    **There will be other fast food outlets with free wifi available.

    (use an internet based messaging app if you dont already.)

    Reading SMS is free anywhere in the world.
    Reading MMS isn't.
