Mortgage Application address and Experian address confusion help?

Just wondered if anyone could help me out here:
Our DIP was declined via Platform (awaiting reason) however, I'm confused about the address situation.
For the last 4 years I've been living and renting in London and have valid proofs for all addresses, however my entire financial history is linked to my home/family address in Birmingham; as well as my electoral roll registry.
When applying I put in my addresses for the last 3 years, none of which have any of my finances linked to them or to any person living there.
Would this matter in decision-making? I'm only renting in London as I work here, however I would never want any of my things to go anywhere but my Birmingham address, I guess that I thought I was protecting my finances by not changing addresses constantly.
Any help/advice would be great, thanks!
Extra info: Neither my partner and I have any defaults, have ever taken loans, have ever missed any payments and have been in steady jobs for over 3 years with annual salary increases. We also have 10% deposit and the property is a flat going for £250k.

This regularly causes problems for lenders.
We usually use the formal address where everything is registered and provide the other addresses to the lender separately so they can be manually credit checked.I am a mortgage broker. Wow, thanks for the super speedy response!
If this were to be the reason for decline, what are the chances that my broker can have the decision changed? Is it a "You should have had this sorted in the first place." kind of ordeal? Or is it something where my broker can arrange for more proof and reasons as to why this is the case and providing literally everything else is in order, will overturn the decision?

Would depend completely on lender and I've not used Platform this century. You also need to know the reason for the decline.I am a mortgage broker.
