But when you reach the till, Tesco doesn't tell you that the cucumber you picked up at 49p is now going to cost you £1 do they? :D

I've no objection to other customers being served, my objection is that after proceeding all the way to the final purchase page of the website Easyjet changed the price of the item I was purchasing WHILE i was purchasing it. Is that so hard to understand?

If there are only seven seats left at the cheaper price and somebody else pays before you why should you get them?

Airline pricing doesn't work the way you think it should. Is that too difficult to understand?

the issue is until you click/submit accept you are just another browser.

for example before i book our trips i visit easyjet/ryanair etc and price up the seats etc however would it be "morally fair" if i was locking in a price at the expense of others when i have no intention of booking those seats how would you like it if your seats were more expensive because i was on there browsing?

I think ba charge a small fee to allow you to reserve a price for 48 hours.

Although the failed transaction seems to have led to this problem on this occasion, surely if have a number of seats in your "basket" they should be available for you to purchase at the price you started the transaction at and would or should not be available for somebody else to purchase.

Most other ticket sellers, theatre, sports events etc. hold tickets for 10 mins to allow card details etc. to be entered. Of course, as appears to have happened to the OP, the transaction fails or you take too long, then you have to start again and hope the tickets are still available.

Yes, I'm certain. I've excluded baggage and other costs from my figures above. Even confirming it on the phone with customer services the actual price difference of £181 is purely the price fluctuation of the ticket over the 15 minute booking period.

Oh. :( I guess it's a case of supply and demand. I remembered after I'd written my earlier post the same thing happened to me while booking a room on the Travelodge website.

Clear your cookies or use an incognito mode to access the EasyJet website. They "record" your visit and what you looked at and nudge the price each time you visit.
If 2 people are looking at the exact same seats at the same time, 2 different prices will be displayed dependent on number of previous visits

The cookie monster myth lol. I've just checked on the same flights 3 times in the last 30 mins and surprise surprise, the prices are still the same.

always makes me chuckle when i read this but im happy for people to think it works because when they are faffing about with their cookies i can swoop in book the tickets they were looking at

I had this same problem...easyjet said theywsold out of the cheapest seats while I was in the process of checking out so I ended up paying a higher price.

I then read on a forum that if you've repeatedly checked the price of a particular flight the airline can tell from your ip address and bump the price up. The way around this is to clear the cache and cookies prior to booking. I tried this the following day and lo and behold the cheap seats came up again so they hadn't sold out.

    Lesson learned for me!
