BT Mis -selling

Options
We had phone calls and loads of marketing letters from BT last November 2015 informing us that Fibre Business was available for us. We went ahead and ordered it. After it was installed our internet stopped working completely. When we called BT numerous times then kept performing line checks and told us it was an internal problem and we would need to pay. Anyway to cut a long story short 11 weeks had gone by so had xmas we had made 22 phone calls totalling 19 hours on the phone, 5 complaints online, 4 engineer visits and we have had to go back onto ADSL. Since this we have had no financial compensation or apology. To cover their butts they have put on the back of the marketing letter in small writing under the recycling section, that ' A few things can affect broadband speed, like how far your business is away from the fibre box or buildings wireing' (HOW ABOUT NONE AT ALL). It should not be down to consumers to sign up and pay to get used as guinea pigs to determine whether its possible or not to have fibre. These letters should not get sent if the homework is not done. Has anyone had any joy with compensation from BT as they have had the nerve to bill us for that period without broadband the ombudsman is doing nothing the government need to step in on this and fine them as its proving impossible to take legal action and a financial loss for everyone this happens to.

  • I have found this recently

    Mis-Representation Act 1967
'A misrepresentation is a statement of fact (not opinion) which is made by the seller before the contract is made.
If you relied on that statement when deciding whether or not to go ahead with your purchase, and this then turns out to be wrong, you can claim compensation.
There are three types of misrepresentation and your path to redress will depend upon the following:
whether the false statement was made fraudulently
whether the false statement was made negligently
whether the false statement was made innocently'

but it doesn't seem to bother any company inc the Ombudsman, ASA, Watchdog, Xray I have contacted everyone and anything I can find to help with getting something back we lost £££££ and for a small family business it was a big blow especially over xmas, boys had to finish early, payments were late and they would not have been if BT were honest and did their homework.

But you are not a consumer? - so you have had no Broadband for 3 months? I assume they are not charging you?

    Thanks Mark
