    Hello

Ally thank you for starting us off this morning hope you have a lovely day by the canal.

Grey and damp here today, not particularly motivating.

    Today I have/plan to:
Go shopping and stick to list
Post on this thread for support, motivation and inspiration
    Open curtains fully
Close curtains before it gets dark
Turn off lights and appliances not in use
    reusable sanitary wear
    Stick to meal plan
    B/L/D from stores
    PAD into saving £3.66 -1p
    Soak porridge overnight
    Set DW to run overnight
    Set WM to run overnight
    Place order with wholesaler
    Check FPL
    Educate children for free
Entertain children and us for free
    Do not wash hair
    Read Martin’s email
Keep heating to a minimum, nothing downstairs, upstairs thermostats turned down low, we have jumpers and blankets
    Cull 100 emails
    Tidy Google drive, job started

    Empty toaster crumb tray

Whilst we were out shopping I noticed something (steam most likely) was coming from the bonnet, once it had cooled down (we used the time to go to the market a buy fruit & veg and to pop into Tesco's to make the most of their chopped tomato offer and pick up a free magazine) I investigated and it I discovered that the coolant was way below low topped up with water (stored in the boot) and headed home on the way I made the snap decision to pop into Aldi for the few bits we planned to get there but to be on the safe side I also picked up some sandwiches for our lunch in case I had to stop and call out the car rescue people to help, as I felt we would all cope better with any situation if we were feed, as it was we made it home without incident and enjoyed our sandwiches, but over the weekend me and OH will be having a discussion about my car, including which garage to take it to to check that it isn't anything major and what our plan is if it is to expensive to fix  If we do get it back on the road I plan on getting a coolant alarm fitted as the temperature gauge evidently can't be trusted, it hadn't moved from where it normally is

I've just submitted my meter readings and a warning message came up saying 'your gas reading is not what we expected...please check it's correct'.

Got slightly panicked that it meant I'd be in for a surprise come bill time but I've checked and it says we use 84% less than they expect for a couple in a 3-bed semi. :D *feeling smug*

    Apparently 14% less electricity too.

We're getting a smart meter installed soon - looking forward to that.

Just reading through their energy saving tips now - says 'Don't dry clothes directly on radiators'... I generally don't because they go on the airer but I wouldn't have thought that would have made a difference... *toddles off...* I'll keep you posted on any other surprises...

Also says 'Regularly dust the condenser coils at the back of your fridge' :o (who has time to pull out the fridge?!)

Well, after a dull, grey start, the sun came out and we had a nice few hours. It them poured with rain and is now back to dull and grey again.

    Other things:
Found 50p under sofa cushions when I pulled them out to hoover :T

No heating on, but might light the wood stove in a minute as it is chilly in here

Watered seedlings in mini greenhouse and picked some more micro leaves for tonight's salad :)

<Thinking cap on> Covering your radiators with clothes would make them less efficient at heating your room and therefore drying clothes on the airer would allow more of the heat to radiate out across your room. ;)

I don't often have time to pull out my fridge! You can buy a "special" brush to clean the coils too! Does the world need such an impliment?

    Hi folks,

Had a lovely day, thanks for your good wishes. Relieved that my post-hospital body stayed the distance of the whole 9 miles. :D Lots of free wildlife watching and sight-seeing as I went.

A couple of things to add.

Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Month Eleven:

    * Free 1/2 litre of Rockstar energy drink at Glasgow Queen Street station. A company was giving them away free and gratis. OH and I will share it later; will probably taste like cough syrup. :rotfl:

    * Found 1p on the train.

    *
Bought a free Metro paper home for OH.

    * Harvested free tourist leaflets for a friend whose mother is coming over from Poland soon.

    * Man collected something advertised on Freecycle.

    * Man who's hopefully buying our old barbecue did not show. :mad:Will contact him.

    * Downloaded a podcast on the free Scotrail Wifi.

    How about you guys?

    Hi all

Been awol, working a lot, ferrying kids about and trying to keep on top of domestic stuff. DH not been able to get on with much work because of the awful weather, his van is booked in the garage on Tuesday and our new bathroom has developed a leak. Its not been a good week.

DS1 has got himself a job which is great news but it means that there is a good chance he will lose his PIP. The PIP meant that I could work part time and care for him. He doesnt need this care as much now which is what we always hoped for but it might mean some changes in our finances.

Ah well tomorrow is another day. I need an early night I think!
