I am thinking of going down this route with a site on my patch.

the signs are NO parking but then try to set contractual charges in the small print.
As far as I am aware there is no planning to park(access/drop off road) and they have just installed ANPR and new signs, no planning applications as far as I can tell for either.

I have just had a local shop install 3x lamp posts with 3 anpr cameras and signage, also checked about the local Aldi and couldn't see any planning permission for theirs either

Will email the council see if they have any information , thanks

ANPR needs planning permission if it's pole mounted.

    Signs definitely need advertisement consent

"No Parking" is most likely trespass rather than contractual.

    Report to the council.

I checked the planning for another site and PE did get planning and advertising consent for pole mounted(retrospectively).

They mounted the cameras on the wall of the building on the new site I am dealing with so they may be OK.

There are other CCTV cameras(near the new ones) for security on one of the units would have to dig through reams of planning apps to see if they were included in any previous planning.

Quick reply from the council, the shop don't have permission and an enforcement officer will investigate further and also check if Aldi has got permission
  • I went down this route some time ago at Fistral. Planning officer visited, sent a letter back, som'at on the lines of "not a priority."

Am now urging anyone who has got a sting at Fistral to contact planning, the more the merrier.

Looking at some stuff around PE and Macclesfield Hospital at the moment, looks like they have got "advertising consent" at this site.

Cameras don't need planning permission, bolt 'em onto an existing structure and they'll be fine.

A new pole does need planning permission.

Signs will normally not require planning permission, but they will often require advertising consent.

Failing to get planning permission is naughty but not a crime, and can be rectified retrospectively.

Failing to get advertising consent when it is required is a criminal offence.

At what point would it be required?

My Local Council have said that PE signs I queried are in their opinion "Warning signs on the Landowners property and would not require consent". The signs can be seen from the footpath in the high street.

So is it the Local Council planning officer that decides what needs consent?
Always get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p
