Dehumidifier for garage and/or cellar

I am in the market for a dehumidifier for my garage and possibly one for the cellar/gym.
Neither will be heated regularly and the gym, which is under the garage, links in to the cellar which has air bricks in the external walls.
I have done a little research and have a shortlist of either:
Meaco DD8L
EcoAir DD122FW
Amcor AM-DD8L
I would be after an ioniser model for the gym but a simple one for the garage.
Does anybody have any experience of these model or any useful advice?
Regards
Phil

I bought an EcoAir one about 2 years ago. Used all over the house, but mostly in the (unheated) cellar, or occasionally to speed up drying some washing.
Very happy with it.0 -
Would they have any noticeable effect to the overall humidity when the space is open to outside air? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Don't use an Ionizer, they produce o-zone ?Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

Every house is open to the air unless you are completely airtight (unlikely unless you have a whole house heat recovery system or some other kind of controlled ventilation due to the risk of suffocation!) so I can't see too much of a problem.
My house has a chimney and draughts, probably more draughts than the cellar. The gym will have a doorway between it and the main cellar so will suffer draughts much less than the actual cellar.
I will be storing many vinyl records in the gym (finally having my decks set up after 6 years in storage) and wish to protect them and their sleeves from damp and mould.0 -

IMHO, you would be fighting a loosing battle with the garage unless you sealed it up!0

The garage is better sealed than the cellar!0

The gym (a new build extension with concrete filled retaining walls) is airtight barring the door and 1.5m passage way into the cellar. Since it has dried out after being plastered it doesn't appear to suffer with any condensation, not when heated with an oil rad, or when left to its own devices. It stays a pretty constant temperature down there throughout the year (when not heated) too but I REALLY don't want to risk my vinyl getting damaged. It would be a precautionary measure for a year or so until I can assess what the dehumidifier is doing.
The garage is attached to the house and has an insulated roller door, insulated walls, insulated roof and double glazing so is better sealed and insulated than the house!
