    I will get some.
Also consider a mask and some rubber gloves, plus do it when the kids are out and you have the windows open. It is fantastic, but it really got on my chest
  • Is the property a house or flat? Has it cavity wall insulation (if it has cavity walls?)
Do you have trickle vents on the windows? Open them all the time.
Drying wet clothes indoors will seriously increase the humidity in the property causing damp. Try drying clothes outside, if you can. If you have a tumble drier, does it need to have a pipe venting outside?

There are lots of causes for damp. Unfortunately a young family in a small property you're going to have lots of washing and baths/showers!

no don't think it has trickle vents -just vents at the top so big prevents the blinds from laying flat against the window. They are open. Last time they came they double checked those.

Kitchen is small appliances stick out - so have a washer dryer. During warmer weather all clothes are dried outside as standard.

  • Has the outside of the property been checked?
Are gutters clear, any slipped tiles?

Odd for there to be black lines on bathroom ceiling - perhaps they correspond to ceiling joists.

Worth trying a dehumidifier in my view. (even condensing dryers release some humidity into the room.). Hope you keep bedroom windows open, particularly at night.

We lived in a flat with condensation. Nothing stopped it completely tbh, we tried everything. We had windows open as often as possible, never dried washing indoors and bought a dehumidifier and our bedroom and the back of all our furniture still got mouldy. Dehumidifiers do help, but they're too noisy to have on in the bedroom overnight.

I think it's just a fault with the ventilation in some properties. We've moved now and haven't changed our lifestyle, but there's no mould here thank god! Our flat was built in the 60s with storage heaters so it was designed to be sealed to keep the heat in.

There's something wrong with some houses that get mould that isn't simply to do with the way people live. I've lived in 14 different addresses, one had mould and the rest haven't. And yet still the HA in that place blamed me for it. It's easy to blame the person rather than the building but it isn't useful because while they do this they never work out what the real problem is.

They checked the gutters etc when they came over a year ago. However they never got up on a ladder.
