Giving card details to budget foreign hotel

Are you saying this because i can claim the amount back as fradulent use?
Depends.
What are their terms and conditions primarily in relation to cancellation, this may vary depending on the price you pay.
You can opt to pay a low price but forfeit this is you don't turn up, or pay a higher price and be able to cancel potentially up to the day of arrival.
If the hotel charges you outside of your agreed terms then you can get the money back through your credit card company.
You potentially have to be careful transmitting your information if the site isn't secure. I have faxed the information before on the basis that it isn't then as accessible on the web or email, though no system is guaranteed.0 -
This is absolutely normal and I am not sure a foreign hotel should be any different to a hotel in the UK?0

Always use credit card even online
AMEX is very easy to claim with, CC likewise. Debit/banks do ask for a lot more info / police reports (Natwest did last time) and so on
