PIP Mental Health Issues

Hello,

This is my 2nd time I have applied for PIP and failed due to my circumstances.

Has anyone successfully appeal a rejection of PIP because of their mental health issues, depression, anxiety panic attacks? They are not taken seriously by society so i am not surprised they rejected them however a few people on other sites got them through taking the DWP all the way. If your diagnosed then you should get it.

I get ESA support group which is a similar assessment and I get that doesn;t that more or less qualify you for PIP assessment?

When you fill your "how your disability effects you" form. Do you send back evidence from like GP's, CPN, Mental health team etc. I would also send them a copy of your ESA report. And going from what you write and to what evidence you provide. There is no reason they will reject you, The points system and assessment is abit different from ESA.

It's unlikely you'll get PIP's for depression and anxiety alone. You need to have something else to get enough points.

The decision letter will have the reasoning as to why they didn't give you enough points. It would probably be things like if you put some effort into it you can cook yourself a meal and you can get around without assistance. You might need to be accompanied by a friend but you got to the assessment centre okay so you aren't that bad....I know if you can't get to assessment centre if your anxiety is so bad that you can't even leave the house then you might have a chance of PIP's but then not turning up to the appointment means you don't get PIP's so you're stuffed either way. Turn up-you got out of the house you're fine you don't get PIP's...don't turn up-you don't get PIP's.

You need to demonstrate how you fit the criteria with evidence. The criteria are available online, with the relevant point guide. I find the disability rights one to be comprehensive but simple enough to understand.

I have MH issues (more severe than yours) and I get DLA (not changed over to PIP yet). Without demonstrating how you meet the criteria you won't get anything.

Have you informed DVLA of your depression and anxiety, both are notifiable conditions especially as you think they are severe enough to warrant PIP...it is an offence not to inform them and could invalidate your insurance.

I think the OP wants advice not for someone to look through old threads to make cheap digs. I had to look at older threads to understand what you were talking about.

I have PIP for mental health issues, So it is possible to get awarded. And I was awarded based on paper evidence.

Hardly an old thread I read the ops post regarding driving a couple of hours ago which they posted about 6 hours ago. Anyway who the hell are you to tell others what's they can or can't post?

Well the OP doesn't get PIP they are wanting advice. If you want to give advice on their driving do it in the thread about cars....

Otherwise you are just trolling this thread, Only established MSE users troll other threads for information that they can hold against a OP. I've seen it done hundreds of times. If you think im getting into a slanging match with you then your wrong.

Why on earth would I bring up someone's MH problem up on a thread that has no mention of them?

How on earth you have come up with a troll label from me offering the op sound advice which is meant to help them baffles me.....Maybe it's past your bedtime?

Edit: Licence holders do not have to be iro of any benefit to be held under DVLA rules of notifiable conditions so it's irrelevant if the op does or does not claim PIP..

How about helping out and advising the OP on what categories they might get points in to get the middle rate care component of PIP?

As far as I can see you've virtually got to be housebound as getting out would induce a severe panic attack. That means not even being able to go to the GP preferring to stay at home and undiagnosed because being home feels comfortable and means the OP wouldn't have the ability to drive. The OP might get PIP's if they were having severe psychotic episodes more often than not. Being able to get out and about and drive by themselves without assistance isn't representative of someone suffering from depression severe enough to warrant PIP's.

My partner also gets PIP's for mental health problems. She is under the local mental health team's care and attends cognitive behavioural therapy sessions several times per week. She's overdosed on drugs and alcohol multiple times and has been hospitalized recently. It's very severe depression and anxiety....but she gets some extra points as she has mobility issues as well which in a way led to the depression and anxiety she has. If she didn't have the mobility issues she wouldn't have got the points and would not have got PIP's.

Wow you two are on a roll tonight. Seems like every thread both of you are there to criticise OP's

You just ruined the OP's thread.
