Things to do in London on a budget, and how to do Tussauds cheap...

Re Tussauds and pushing in. I was speaking to a tour guide at a hotel we once stayed at and the Japanese in particular are masters.

When they visit London they 'do' Tussauds in no more than 30 minutes. It literally is, in, photo everything and out. Quickest for off the coach and all 50 passengers back on was just over 20 minutes! They then spend the time on the coach 'visiting' the attraction through the photos they took!

Taussauds is a joke. Overpriced and we had a horrible experience last time we went. (Have been twice in 8 years, second time we took my younger brother)


I really hope they've changed it now, but when we went in December 2014 there was a 'holding area' before you go into to watch the short Marvel film. We were near the front of this area and waited around 15 minutes in which time the whole place had been filled and we could barely move. There was only 1 set of doors leading into the cinema room. When they opened the doors, everyone started pushing towards them and 2 men elbowed me in my side and pushed my boyfriend out the way so they could push their family in before us. People were getting pushed about and crushed against the walls in the little corridor leading into the cinema room. It was horrible! There should at least have been another set of doors or some kind of management in place so that people were let through steadily.


I complained about it because along with the stupidly high price, we barely got chance to take any photos because the huge families that were in then thought it was acceptable to spend 10 minutes or more doing every pose possible with each waxwork. I suggested they let too many people in and should stagger it properly. They replied with a couldn't care less attitude.


Will never go to another Taussauds again!
