Things to do in London on a budget, and how to do Tussauds cheap...

Taking kids to London at weekend, age 7, 9 and 12 - they never agree on anything but I'm hoping to find some stuff at some point they all like.
Any suggestions to do on a budget that they might enjoy?
Also, trying to get hold of the Kellogg's adults go free tokens - anyone know if I could get 2 and use one of the adults one for my 12 yr old?
Thanks

You need to buy a promotional pack of cereal to get the tokens.

Some venues consider an adult from 12 but Madam Tussauds consider adult form 15.

Madame Tussauds isn't worth going to.

The Skygarden is free, it's at the top of the "Walkie Talkie" building.
    .....

  • Tussauds was fine doing 2 adults, they didn't even check. So I got 2 free, £60 for 1 adult 3 kids. Not massively impressed though so glad didn't pay full whack. Full, and I mean full, far too busy, of mostly foreign tourists most of whom had no hesitation in literally pushing in front of children for photos with dummies! The 4D cinema was amazing though!
  • Science Museum, Natural History Museum are both free. Go to see Buckingham palace, Trafalgar Square, St James' / Hyde Park. Take a trip on the Thames Clipper to the Thames Barrier/Greenwich to straddle the meridian.

All the big attractions are way over priced and rammed with obnoxious tourists.
  • Also to add, Tower Bridge. Also the Tower of London. Lots of info boards dotted about workout having to pay to get in. There's also the Roman Amphitheater under the Guildhall in The City, that's free and is worth a visit. At Pauls Cathedral isn't far beyond that.
  • If you can venture south of the river, the Imperial War Museum is free, as is The Horniman Museum in Forest Hill (with spectacular views over London). The latter may be a bit intense for the younger ones mind you.
  • Yeah we did Science Museum too, very good there but shame Launchpad closed this year, kids love that. And yes tourists can be obnoxious lewishardwickn:rotfl:

I agree with you, as think Madam Tussauds is really overpriced. We had Merlin passes and live near, but always found it hot, stuffy and overcrowded, Unless we went before opening time and ran ahead of the crowd it was a struggle to get photos. We found that although we waited our turn to take a photo with a waxwork, others had no hesitation in barging in before us and calling over all friends and relatives to have photos taken. I really feel that like the Harry Potter studios tour they should limit the amount they allow in.

Though I think it needs to be booked in advance.
