Who is responsible for Scottish power bill

Hi,
I basically need some advice... I lived in a rented property with my father for around a year. My name was never on the tenancy agreement but I called Scottish power and got the electric/gas bill set up. They asked for my name never asked who else lived at the property nor my living status in regards to the property.
I've since left the house in question (over a year ago) and Scottish power now decide to trace me and let me know of a hefty bill as they charged me incorrectly.
I don't have a good relationship with my father and he is refusing to pay any towards this bill. Where do I stand in terms of liability? Am I liable for this bill or is my father as he was the tenant?
Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you

You really should have read the meter when you moved out and told SP that you no longer lived there and that your father was now taking over the utilities. Ideally the person on the tenancy agreement should be the person who owns the utilities as well.
Not sure how you get out of this.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

The account holder will be held liable for the bill.0 -
If it is your name on the account, you are responsible.
If your father was there during the period of the bill and refuses to pay anything, the only option is the drastic step of taking him to the small claims court.0
